Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year!
Ours was good - visited family up North for a few days over Christmas, then back home for New Year. We went out for a chinese with entertainment laid on - a Tom Jones / Elvis singer. He was quite good.
But within a few minutes of arriving there I noticed helium balloons hanging from the ceiling all over the restaurant and my daughter (who is now 12) was trembling as she has a balloon phobia. The strings were dangling down and she gets worried people will handle the balloons. Then one popped (or maybe it was a party popper) and she started to have a panic attack 😞 so I had to take her home.
It only happens a couple of times a year (she refuses to go in Frankie & Benny's anymore) but has been going on for years and years. She hates balloons being handled - so balloon modelling and people pinching at them freaks her out.
She has tried to get over it - at her own parties if they are tied up high so no-one can play with them it's been ok. She is ok with water balloons/water bombs.
I guess it is the risk of a bang that worries her (she was never good with fireworks and only recently has tolerated christmas crackers)
I will take her to the doctors about it as she has agreed to some therapy to stop this happening.... so I wondered if anyone has experience of hypnotism and phobias?

i understand how she feels and unless anyone has a proper phobia they do not understand.
i have a big phobia of worms firstly then maggots snakes and anything that resembles a worm.they absolutely terrify me and i do not know why .
i could quite easily brake the 4 minute mile if anybody chased me with one
.and that is also why i detest gardening as i would love a really nice garden but just can not bear to do it.in case the worms chase me.
i feel for your daughter pix especially at her age as her friends must struggle to understad her phobia.

Worms 😞
Phobias are horrible and so irrational. Mine is heights, but I try to keep calm and move away from what I feel are dangerous vantage points. The worst thing was ski lifts.... horrid things!! I can just about manage to be inside a gondola as it feels safer, and the sky-ride things at Alton Towers is ok for me (as long as it never breaks down!)
xx

yes i do not like lifts or hieghts but they are not as bad as full phobia. cable cars are really bad for me but i will do them if neccessary but if you ask me to pick a worm or a maggot or a snake up thats a different matter altogether that is a big fat
NO way
