Most Haunted

I know its not a seasonal thing right now but i got to watching Most Haunted again last night on Catch up as i saw one on telly the other night and it scared the Bejeeebers out of me!!!!!. It was about cells where they put witches under a court house or something and i put it on halfway through when they were calling out to these witches  and they were getting all these horrible spooky sounds back!!!!!. I know maybe some could think it could be put on but it cannot all be fake surely??. What do others think?.

Never watched the programme, Rose; all I know is that  until you encounter a spirit/ghost, it's very difficult to believe in them. I believe in them, as I have encountered strange goings on, things sitting on the bed when there was nothing there etc.

I believe in spirits but think those programmes are rubbish.

We moved into this house to look after dad when mum passed away, since then dad has passed away and my wife says she has heard him calling for her and he has been gone six years now.

We used to live in apartment in a Grade 2 listed building that was a former hospital.  Things used to move without warning and it was weird.  Also, things would drop to the ground without warning.

My Hubby is a great fan of Most Haunted and I have to behave myself cos I keep taking the micky out of it, he loves to watch it

Bit of an old cynic me I am afraid, obviously in an old house or somewhere that has a strange past then you would get feelings especially if you know what went on there.

All of it, nothing you see means there are such things as ghosts or spirits.

Some houses often make noises at night as the structure cools down then.

Bank, my house wasn`t cooling down when we heard the thump thump thump of a child running across the landing.......I used to shoot upstairs thinking the kids were out of bed.........they would all be fast asleep. happened dozens of times We and visitors heard it.. It ended as the boys grew up and started again when 2 grandsons lived here for a few months.

Then my husband spoke to his " mother " as she was leaning over the babys cot..........only she wasn`t  here that night.

My father always wound the clocks in their house. The kitchen clock stopped at 6.12 months earlier . Parents were in a nursing home for months and we didn`t bother replacing the battery. Dad died at 6.12. My brother noted the time and also the clock as they returned to the house.  My brother was staying at their house, being distressed and unable to sleep ,came down to make a drink. .........as he sat drinking it he realised the clock was now ticking. Spooked him out LOL

I don't believe in any spooks or ghosts or spirits or guardian angels, nothing.  Once you're dead, your dead. Gone.  Nothing.  If you could come back surely a lot would.

the parapsychologist on Most Haunted came out and said it was all staged, Dr O'keefe or something like that. I t was in the news years ago that it was all staged and the medium knew everything that would happen/had all the information

i would love to think there are spirits, i really would

i think our minds find a way to comfort us when we need it most

but nothing tangible, it would have been proven before now i would have thought

and made into a million films and tv programmes

Old buildings often lean a bit. And the earth moves more often than you might think -

This thread just put me in mind of the '2 minutes silence' thread.  People believing in weird happenings, thinking it's something to do with 'Him up there' rather than some scientific phenomenom.  Some of these old beliefs take a long time to die!! Smiley Wink

I've seen 5 different ghosts over the years.   I have researched them all in great detail and have found out the history of the people they were which has been fascinating.  One lady I even saw her photograph which felt rather odd but it was good to make that connection.

Once I took a friend to the exact spot where I had seen a ghost as I had doubted myself that there was something there.  I said out loud to my friend that there was really nothing here and at that moment the pair of us were picked up off our feet and thrown backwards against a wall several feet away by 'something' unseen.  I've never experienced anything like that but I promised out loud there and then never to doubt again.

The last ghost I saw was last month when I was staying at a 13th century monastery in Spain.  A ghost walked across a corridor in front of me in broad daylight.  I was with 4 other people at the time and no-one else saw it.  The atmosphere was so calm and serene and I did feel quite honoured to see this ghost who I assume was a monk.  As with all ghosts I have seen looked just like a real person.  Its only a few seconds afterwards that you realise what you have seen.

I certainly don't agree with going looking for ghosts for the sake of entertainment.  I have seen programmes like Most Haunted and the one that concerned me most was the Clerkenwell ghost as that appeared to be truly evil.  Its a shame as it would be just as interesting to watch a programme about the history of a place or building and to learn about the ghostly inhabitants with some respect rather than to have their existence somehow proved/forced.

People see or hear the things they want/expect to see, it is a fact that eyewitnesss accounts are extremely unreliable.

One person sees an odd freak of light, another sees a ghost, I've spent far too many hours alone at night to believe in the supernatural, it simply doesn't exist.

If it is staged i think thats horrible,, you should only make programmes about paranormal things that are real and true i think.
