Miss Grey.

Im just making an observation really all but an infuriating one a bit!!!. Why is it after colouring my hair Pale Blonde i can still see they GREY AT THE FRONT SIDES???.

I know they say you have to go darker to get rid of grey but i do not want too. I have just stood in my bathroom painstakingly slathering Hair Colour on my grey bits,,,,. I wash it out and you can still see them!!. AAArrrrggghhhhhh. WELL,,i suppose at least i have hair and should be thankful. Oh what we do to try and stay looking Beautiful. I SAID TRY YES!!!!!!!!!!!. I am growing old disgracefully. Show your individuality & have a bright colour in streaks. It does wonders for your confidence. I will be 67 in April.

My natural hair colouring was a dark brunette....

As I got older and grey hair started to show then I opted to colour my hair a shade lighter . This has gone on for some years now and eventually I became blonde ....

I just use one of those 10 minute colourants in an ash blonde shade and as they are tonal everything just blends in and you get the effect of different shades of blonde . My friend has hers coloured professionally at the salon and the hairdresser uses a mix of several colours but the effect is no different . The only difference is in the price !

The grey blends in naturally as it is shaded blonde .....its easy , quick , shiny and looks very professionally done . Dont even know what my normal hair colour would look like now although my husband would love me to be brunette again .....too much upkeep though ...being blonde is so easy as the grey does not show at all....

my hair was bright blue once...dyed it for a party, I loved it!

it's grey  now...salt and pepper. I don't care, I like it. I'd like purple streaks in it though, but work would have a fit.

My hair is sooo annoyingly ultra fine - can hardly see a single hair strand unless I hold it up to the light.

So a few years ago, when I started to develop a slightly off-centre white streak at the back of my head, I decided to love it and keep it.

I'm not sure if it's my brains leaking from that point, or it is as I sometimes call it, my waterfall.

That is not the first place I noticed grey hairs - think further south!

But apart from a few at the temples, and my hair being a bit lighter then when I was young and feisty, it's remained the same for some time now.

I'd love to colour it sometimes, but then I'd need help to manage it, and keep the waterfall at the back - don't want an orange streak really.

I have awful hair, it is 80% grey but very patchy, lumps of dark brown and lumps of pure white, so I die it.  I go to the local college every 4 weeks to have mine done,  I have a different colour every time, and I alternate between purple and red, however they have to be suble colours otherwise I would be sent home from work.  It only costs £20 for a colour, trim and dry, so well worth it, I have to go every 4 weeks as the roots would be too obvious if I left it any longer.  I have it very short so you can only really see the grey at the sides and I style it so it covers it.

I gave up colouring it myself as it never really covered my grey properly.

The really anoying thing is my mother is 80 this year and I am 54 and she has hardly any grey.

I have started something good on this thread then?.

No offence to girls who want to age disgracefully or gracefully GREY,,,, but my brother said to me "oh just let your hair go grey it will look ok". Personally i nearly slapped him!!!!. NOOOOOOO> NOT FOR ME.

From the day at age 15 when i dyed my hair from mousey natural blonde to dark chestnut at school, ( and got it mentioned the same day in assembly there was no coloured hair allowed) my hair has been every colour. But i like as blonde as can be. ITS ME. People are surprised when i tell them i do it myself. As they say it looks good. I have had it Ginger, Pinky Chestnut, Pink, Nearly Black. But always back to the Bleach Blonde. Well Blonde as i cannot keep up with the roots of Bleaching!. It all stemmed from having an obsession with Blondie and Debbie Harry. I wanted my hair like the good ladies!!.

Bring on the COLOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

"I have to go every 4 weeks as the roots would be too obvious if I left it any longer."

Ed, explain, to a non-dyer,  Isn't it obvious anyway, whether you have grey roots or not, that if it is pink or purple, that it's dyed???  Woman LOL

I thought it was the done thing these days to leave a couple of inches of roots showing anyway.  I don't understand that either.  Best I just keep my own colour.  I'm showing my individuality!!Woman Tongue

I colour my hair (natural brunette with increasing grey) myself.

I'm too young (in my mind) to go grey
