I'm to be a gran granny but not a nan or nanny. Knitting patterns needed

Yep just received the news tonight. I am, now shock has gone, delighted. But all my knitting patterns are old, so would like something a bit more modern to knit. Any ideas who to look to?

Congrats how lovely! If your looking for a seller I know one who comes to the boards called @booksandpatterns there's another but not sure of the username.

Congratulations!  I'm a Granny and I'm sure you'll love it!  Debbie Bliss does good patterns, among others.  If you have a branch of The Works near you, or a good crafts shop,  they sometimes have books of baby knitting.

Thanks to both. I will check out both suggestions. Will be good to get the pins out again.

How do modern baby coats and booties differ from the older ones

You will probably find that the patterns are not much different.

Some of the knitting patterns we have for baby clothes are what my bought when she was expecting me and I am 60.  They are still lovely patterns to this day. I wouldn't worry too much about the age of the patterns.

What you are called as a grandmother is personal choice, there is no right or wrong.

My grandmother would have been horrified if I had called her "gran", "grandma" or "granny".

It had to be "nanny"

As I said before, neither is right or wrong, just simply personal choice.

A lot of old patterns will have wools like 3 ply, or a brand name wool that is no longer available, such as Baby Quicknit which I remember buying many years ago.  The garments in old and new patterns may look the same but if you use a different wool the size may not end up right.  Needle sizes may also be different if the patterns is vintage,  and you'll need to get the modern equivalent.

I wanted to be called granny, because I adored my own granny. But I was over ridden by the parents and all other relatives because it sounded old fashioned.  They refered to me as nanny or nan, so that's what my grand daughter came to know me as.  Looks like I'll never be a "granny" now.

Steph's girls call her mum nanny and Graham's mum granny.  As has been said, I don't really think that it matters.

A friend  of ours has got four grandchildren and they call her grandma.
