How far back do you remember in FHG and the community spirit ...

that once abounded in here ?

I remember once (not sure who it was for), a lady in here with a very ill little boy (I think) whose only real contact with the outside world was her computer as she had her hands full looking after him.

She was having computer problems and was not sure how much longer she could stay in contact with her friends in here and everyone chipped in what they could afford to buy her a new computer to allow her to continue contact and have the support all her friends in here wanted her to have.

Now in my opinion that was the real community spirit of here that once was and when FHG lived up to its name of Family ! Some lovely, warm, kind, caring and generous people that stepped up when one of the community family needed help.

Real FAMILY.

Hello, waves to all

Real life just gets in the way doesn't it.

and as I refuse to do face book I don't catch up with things.  I thought this place had been shut down till I got a nudge from someone to say anne was looking for me regarding my mum's passing and they sent me a link to the thread.  Then they also told me how the   Community boards were hidden at the bottom of my eBay page.

I do you still keep in touch with a few of the FH&gers In a charity group so that's nice and I do still get down to see Liz at Chaldon animal Sanctuary, you could kind of say Chaldon animal sanctuary has also become my sanctuary. And  boy have I needed one on occasions  over the past couple of years.

having moved my Mam with heart and renal failure and Dad iwith Alzheimer's into our home over a year ago has not been easy. Though it is now easier that Mam is at peace and not requiring 24hr nursing care. In turn making Dad more settled.  And he doesn't really remember her anymore. 😞

i 'I will probably try to pop in now I know some of you are still here:)

We did have some laughs in here didn't we.

And when you think of all the good causes that were helped and all the money that got raised on these boards, it was quite phenomenal. But I do believe them days are well and truly over for many reasons.

But you know the old saying, "all good things must end"

you also have the saying

"good things come to those that wait"

so maybe the appearance of you lovely ladies again might entice some more to return and chat.

Morning all.

I think that dementia is such a cruel thing.  Hopefully, sometime soon, they'll find a cure for it.

Ja it's relatively easy for me as we have the room at home to do it. And  my daughter lives with us with the grandkids ages 18 & 20 so between us we manage really well. All the kids work but my daughter and grandson work set times and granddaughter works shifts hubby also works set times, then my sister comes in 11-6 on Mondays and Thursday's plus stays to have him overnight on a Thursday to get him ready to go to the day centre on a Friday. Having the support is absolutely key. Without that support I doubt I could do it.

the nights are the worst  for me because I can't get back to sleep once I've been woken.

Also I'm lucky because Dad is still such a gentleman and so polite. Unfortunately a lot of people with Alzheimer's can become aggressive. This hasn't happened with dad yet.  But we are not holding our breath he remains this way.

As I say l/we are very lucky to be in a position to be able have him.

Books I agree it is awful. Fortunately for us we have no idea what awaits us. Can you imagine?

Hiiii!!!!!

I have found you lot again!! It's been so long!!

I know exactly when I found FHG and it was 11 years ago. (I started this id a while later when I realised everyone had posting IDs!)

You guys helped me figure out that my son has Aspergers.... and there have been ups and downs with that, but I can report that he's doing brilliantly at school and just stating upper 6th Form 🙂

We all had such a laugh on FHG and I recognise loads of names.

But I still have a memory like sieve! I sometimes wonder where everyone is now.... Arti, LG (lovely girl!) et al.

I am currently on ebay every day but that's because I help my hubby run his new business on here. And I kept wondering whether anyone is still around...

Hope you're all well xx
