How far back do you remember in FHG and the community spirit ...

I remember once (not sure who it was for), a lady in here with a very ill little boy (I think) whose only real contact with the outside world was her computer as she had her hands full looking after him.

She was having computer problems and was not sure how much longer she could stay in contact with her friends in here and everyone chipped in what they could afford to buy her a new computer to allow her to continue contact and have the support all her friends in here wanted her to have.

Now in my opinion that was the real community spirit of here that once was and when FHG lived up to its name of Family ! Some lovely, warm, kind, caring and generous people that stepped up when one of the community family needed help.

I remember the early days of FHG with fondness, also got to meet some lovely people face to face. It was FHG that helped my 6yo daughter raise so much money for the 2004 tsunami disaster.
Unfortunately my questionable behaviour back in those early days ruined it all.
However! A lot of fond memories are still held 😀

I might, however, vanish from here soon Leo.  I stopped selling on here about a year ago and I'm pondering whether or not it's worth keeping my membership active...

We still buy the odd bit but most things I take to the CS rather than listing on here .

Well, in my case I'm still selling things, just not on here.  Too many technical glitches and constant changes, so I got fed up with it...

I used to be a regular here back then, gosh it was about 20 years ago. There was a fantastic community spirit, I remember when one of the ladies here had a house fire and lost everything and everyone got together and sent her all kinds of things to keep her going.

I also remember somebody having trouble with someone who’d bought something and had an issue with it (it turned out that’s this person had issues with practically everything she bought on here. Anyway, to prove that this item was indeed sent, and was indeed in the box, a few of us met up in Paddington (we were in London) We were going to meet up and witness what was in the parcel, then she would seal it up and we witnessed the same parcel being handed over a post office counter

That wasn’t the problem, it was easy enough, but the lady that was posting had the id Furry (she had lists of cats and was always covered in fur). We arranged a meeting spot and a rough physical description and that was that. The night before we were due to meet, it dawned on me that I didn’t know her real name....and I was terrified I would walk up to the wrong person and say ‘Hi, are you Furry’ honest to god I don’t think I got a wink of sleep that night. The day dawned and all went well

It's definitely gone a lot quieter on here with one thing and another.  It's definitely changed.
