I have mine made with a little salt and water, then add alittle milk when it is in the bowl.

Don't like porridge I must admit. I have muesli with cold milk and I add a few blueberries 'cos I loves 'em.

I love porridge, but also have to admit to mostly turning to the packets & 2 mins in the microwave
Mmmmmaple syrup 😄

I do mine in the microwave - mix with water, zap for less than a minute (because it boils over) add more water and repeat, add milk last, zap again to warm it up. All made in the cereal bowl. No sugar or salt.
I must say I only bought the flavoured packet porridge once - far too sweet for me.
(But I admit to eating plain Ready Brek out of the packet with a spoon...)

Plain porridge - not the flavoured ones - for me too
Then I put mmmmmmaple syrup on it :_|

I make mine with whole milk.........has to be whole...........the old fashioned way, in a saucepan, loads of oats..........then in the bowl with loads of brown sugar on top.....................absolutely delish :-x
I do sometimes have the one's you just stick in the microwave, they're not bad really, but much prefer making it myself 😄
Oh! and I can't stand the chocolate ones......................yuk 😐

As much as I love chocolate, I don't fancy breakfast cereal with chocolate on. It just wouldn't be right.

same as Tara, but sometimes I nuke it, sometimes I do it on the stove and stir it with my spurtle.:-)
I used to put the top of the milk on it, when we had full fat milk but we have semi skimmed now.
I love porridge, nice and thick, and I think it tastes better the next day if you make it the night before and heat it up the next morning that is.

Shudder to think as to what a spurtle is CB. I have the feeling that I will be sorry I asked.
😉

books and bits, a Spurtle is a wooden spoon.
21-04-2013 9:28 PM
Thanks for that - I didn't know that.

21-04-2013 9:53 PM
Oh that's nice CB. I had no idea what a spurtle was until you mentioned it.
21-04-2013 9:56 PM
One cup porridge oats, two cups water, a little salt, heat while stirring with spirtle. Into bowl, with milk semi-skimmed if being good, otherwise full cream! and a little bit of heather honey.

you have to keep stirring constantly but I think they make the porridge taste nicer!!!
"I sent one to my epal in USA and she had no idea what it was for:^O all her friends think its such a novelty."
The mind boggles;\

So sorry that you got a slap CB. Here's some botty cream.

Well come on how many of you have cooked the Prime Ministers breakfast?
I made a cup of tea for Sir Michael Hordern once... 🙂
Anyway.... porridge.... I make mine with water, add milk once cooked, no salt goes anywhere near it but I do liberally coat the top with brown sugar.
