I have now started to get my stocks of Soup prepared. There is nothing like a warming bowl of soup and some fresh bread as comfort food as winter draws near. I like the idea of the drinks you can warm up with Apple or Berries in the shops. Cuddly snuggly blankets or fleeces for sitting watching the telly with if your central heating is economizing. Personally i do like keeping my flat snug and keep it quite hot as i feel the cold. Nice Stew and Dumplings to warm you up!!. I know its warmer than usual at the moment but it will get colder. Brrrr, be prepared folks thats what i say and keep those tosies cozy!!.

Turn the heating up.

I'm with CG! I do snuggle under a little knitted blanket sometimes though!

Lots of warm clothes & nice warming comfort food. A quilt over my knees in the evening. Going for a walk if it's not icy underfoot. I will have to be very careful with my heating this year (& years to come) now it has gone up so much. I hate being cold but the price of Gas & Electricity could pose a problem in the future. I am not going to be cold but I will be very careful.

Plenty of layers of clothes. A few hot drinks. Best of all is snuggling up in bed at night all snug and warm.

A freezer full of meat, a garden full of vegetables, and a store full of logs
Bring it on!

as long as my neck is warm I'm warm, so I have a massage coo that someone bought me, I took out the massager (it didn't work really) and I put that around my neck, it's lovely and warm.
I snuggle under a nice big fleecy blanket my penpal made me, and I have a massive knitted cardigan I wear.
I'm warm enough and we haven't had the heating on yet even in the really cold evenings. We have a little convector heater...Maggie you should consider one of those, it can warm a room up in 10 minutes, and it's not as costly as central heating, they're great!

Too right about the heating prices!!!. We have to struggle to even keep warm now. Bloomin liberty. I just had a nap in my cozy bed to ease my coldy body.... Bring it on Winter do your worst!!!.

Start the day with a nice hot bowl of porridge. I have a nice warm chenille blanket that I use to snuggle up under during the day and before the heating goes on. Nice stick to the ribs meals - stews etc. As I am on prepay meter for the gas I have to be so careful and can really only have heating on for two hours in the evening. A nice long walk with the dog always keeps the blood flowing

Yes keeping moving is a good way to keep warm. The back (kitchen) of my house is single skin so very cold. It's open to the breakfast room too so I can't shut the door. I have very efficent gas central heating.... just can't afford to use it very often! lol I am sat here with the back door open as it's been a lovely day. I will be battening down the hatches soon though.

Snuggling the cat or Dog under a fleecy blanket. Hot drinks here and lots of stews and soups and lots of baking...... the oven helps to keep the place warm.

The problem is that we have to have the heat on because my mum can't get too cold with her having a serious heart condition.

Lots of thin layers and a lightweight cotton scarf OH wears a beanie too. Warming food as others have said stews and soups and cooking in the oven. Central heating has been on a bit, but as suggested up there I'm going to get a convector heater too.

We had a new central heating boiler put in about three months ago and we've had it on a few times and it really gets warm quickly so we will see how things go in the winter.

. so the most popular advice seems to be snuggle in bed and keep moving....
rekon I can manage that...

We haven't used our central heating since April, we have had it serviced in May so lets hope it works.
I have my fleece waistcoat on now so time is coming it is going to have to go on.

We can set our heating to come on just for an hour which we have done a few times. My mum really feels the cold so putting the heat on if only for an hour is a necessity.

We have had insulating stuff put in the outer walls of the block of flats i live in. Does anyone have any advice as to wether there will be a difference?. The man rang me from the Housing Association and asked if i had noticed any difference and i said well its too warm still at the moment!!. I hope it does work as it will help save on heating.
