How can I get banner marks off my window please

I put one of those "Merry Christmas" banners on my lounge window; taken it down this morning but the imprint is left behind! Most of the message is in tact on the window and I can't seem to get it off. Have so far tried scratching with my fingernails and washing it with washing up liquid and nothing happens. Any ideas please? Obviously I don't want to scratch the window. Thanks in advance.

Try WD40...you'll have to wash the window well afterwards but it seems to get most stubborn grebby bits off

If it is a gluey type residue you can use nail varnish remover but remember no naked flames and have ventilation while in use. Afterwards you will need to wash the window though.

No scraping or scratching window this way and you will need two cloths, one with nail varnish remover (acetone) and one for wiping off.
