Yippee.....I have got a job interview today. After all my applications over the months this is the first time somebody has actually got back to me asking to see me. It is for a receptionist in a very posh four star hotel. I am not sure whether they will employ me because I have never worked in a hotel before but have been a receptionist in a Solicitors office so hopefully it will be my sunny personality that will get me somewhere.
Got to dig out my lovely interview suit and the high heels. Cant wait as I am fed up living in "slobby" clothes and will be nice to get all dolled up for a change.
Keep your fingers crossed. Need employment as tearing my hair out at home. Many people think that those of us on JSA are living the high life....if only they knew. It is boring being at home, a chore searching all the job sites each day only to be ignored on 99% of applications and downright disheartening trying to live on the low amount we are paid. £72 a week is supposed to pay for food and all other living costs - it is impossible to eat and heat on this amount. I am just grateful that I have a dad and a best friend who help me out when I need extra money for petrol for the car (need the car to get me to job interviews and to keep in contact with my dad who lives an hour away so a car is not now a luxury but a necessity) and also help me out with food bills etc. The hardest part is the winter. If you are at home job searching means you have to have the heating on more which in turn makes the heating bills more - it is a viscious circle.
Diversiving slightly - the Job Centre is now full more of people 50 plus rather than the youth - which says a lot. My friend and I keep saying to each other we dont think we will ever get employment again :-(.
Anyway, fingers crossed and I will keep you updated.

Good luck Tintin, I worked in a hotel for 11 years after I left college, I went from receptionist to duty manager, (Dogs body).
Fab job loved every minute, met some wonderful people. Only left when I got married as it was quite anti social, I worked 6 late nights in a row, and my hubby another duty manager worked 6 earlys in a row so we only saw each other for a couple of hours a day,
I believe things have changed recently.
