I've been looking at this camera on ebay.

Would it be one anyone else would consider?

The camera itself looks Ok Dave, the only problem is that you only have the LCD screen to use for your aim, in very bright outdoor conditions you will in all likelyhood not to be able to see the screen. A camera with a view finder as well would be a better all round bet IMHO. Why not look at the bridge cameras and see what they are going for I am sure last time we spoke you could get the Panasonic FZ50 and the like for not much more money than the compact one in the above post.

No probs thats why you asked;-)

I know from personal experiance that a camera without a viewfinder is a nightmare outside, there are some generic 'covers' for the screens but they aren't as effective as having the said viewfinder

Just to let you know I am really stuck for doing any photos at the moment with my laptop out of action so no editing for me. I will get those USA photos finished if it is the last thing I do!!!

I have a sort of photography question..

We are flying to the USA next week, and of course I want to take camera, lenses etc.. If I wrap it in bubble wrap and have it in the middle of my hold luggage, would it be safe and insured, or should I take it in my hand luggage?

Anyone got the best solution?

Personally I would take it in my hand luggage polly. I have seen how bags are treated that are destined for the hold!!

Try to get a suitable camera bag for it too as these tend to be well padded, Asda do generic ones quite cheap

I was just thinking about the viewfinder that you mentioned Stu.

I've never used it on any digital camera I've owned so perhaps it isn't that important after all.:-D

I'm now looking at a Sony H10. Jacobs have them on special offer until the 19th of April, cheaper than you can get them on Ebay too.:-)

That looks quite a good one Dave have a look at this review to make sure it does everything you want it to do

http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews_sony_cybershot_dsc_h10.php

Theres a few minor niggles they found with it but they may not pose a problem for you, if you never have the need for a viewfinder then you don't need one then. But i would advise you to try a digi camera with one and take some sample shots outside and compare the results. Geberally it is easier to compose the shot with a viewfinder IMHO.

BTW a quick look on the net showed that Sony can be got for around £150
