Re: Electric Razor Recommendations

Sorry can't help learning as Mr S and the boys like a wet shave but the "Which" recommendations online may be of some use to you .

Re: Electric Razor Recommendations

"Himself" uses a philishave recharge-able for the lads. It is one that can be used both wet and dry - mind you it was pricey, cost over £200. He says it copes well with both coarse and fine hair and doesn't pull the hairs. He also says it isn't too noisy. He says go for the 3 heads if you can as it is much quicker.

He says don't go for a straight mains one as it means that you have to shave standing up, beside the shaver socket, and bathroom design doesn't always make that easy, especially when a carer is helping and guiding. He says a re-chargeable one gives more flexibility.

Re: Electric Razor Recommendations

Does your FIL usually use an electric razor?

Reason I ask is that if you have wet shaved all your life and then switch to an electric shaver the quality of shave is very poor and you will get razor rash/burn.

If he usually uses an electric razor then a rechargeable version of the one he is using now would be the best as he will be familiar with it.

If he has always wet shaved and now needs to use an electric then a rechargeable with floating heads and as much adjustment as you can get.

I would suggest you look at the Braun Series 3 390cc-3 Electric Rechargeable Male Foil Shaver with Clean and Renew Charger.

Re: Electric Razor Recommendations

Thanks everyone.

FIL can't do anything for himself. He has always had a wet sheve every day, but the carers at his home are struggling to wet shave him as he is losing all his movement as the cancer has spread to his brain.

However he becomes agitated when he hasn't had a shave.

We thought it would be easier if we had an electric razor.

Good idea to have a rechargeable, and I'll look for one with floating heads.

As FIL is on Palliative Care, we don't really want to spend a fortune as he probably has only weeks to live. Very sad.

Re: Electric Razor Recommendations

£200.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG

I bought my late father a Phillips Philishave electric shaver back in 1965 for a fiver!  That was a lot of money in those days - nearly a week's wages.  Battery operated, he used to shave on the way to work, doing seventy along the A127 towards Southend Airport.

Previous to that he used a conventional razor using the remnants of the teapot . In Cyprus, water was at a premiun.  He obviously rinsed his face in fresh water, but the water in the teapot was fine for what he wanted.  Strange stuff, tea - it speaks it's own language He-brew.  Geddit?  No?  Groan then, see if I care Smiley Wink
