EBAY AD.... Little more than a scam...?

When I signed out ...the 'Sign Back In ' page showed an ad for FREE Beauty Testers ....I clicked on it out of curiosity and eventually was directed to a list of products...free...just pay P/P.

Checked out each one offered and they were all linked to a 'scam' where people unwittingly enter into a consumer contract where you agree to be automatically charged the FULL AMOUNT every month ....which amounts to £100s....by the time they realise this its too late ...and you can't get the money back. It works by 'burying' the small print in their T&Cs....knowing that most people don't read it all! People think they are only risking £1.99 - £6 on a 'free trial' but that's far from the reality! Getting out of the contract is far from straight forward.....and can involve having to pay for products you neither want or even realise you have ordered. You have to return the trial products within a time frame and pay P/P and handling after phoning the company ....but they are banking (literally) that you won't be aware of the auto renewal until too late....the products range from about £69-120 plus P/P. any products sent after the 'trial' are Non Returnable!

The products may be absolutely brilliant but this is stealth merchandising! I don't think eBay should allow such a company to advertise on the site - scambook have 'dossiers' on these companies such as Revivagenix, RX Rejuvenix, Lift and Glow Pro etc.

Many companies use Auto Renew but they make people aware of this upfront...not bury the details in a load of legal jargon that they are fully aware that very few people will read! Just be very careful if you click on this ad....you may end up getting more than you thought you had bargained for .....a nasty debit on your CC statement every month!

You need Adblock Plus on your computer then you wont see the ads. A lot of people get caught by these scams by not reading the terms & conditions usually in very small print.

I have Adblock on my iMac but not on iPhone or iPad....like many others!

I  just don't think this sort of company should be advertising on eBay....if we tried that sort of merchandising we'd be bumped off site smartish!  I had no intention of responding to the ad other than to see just what it was......but I can see how some could get caught out by it! The ones for 'free' iPhones, iPads etc are just as bad but far more obvious than this one!

Seeing as eBay want a squeaky clean image I'm not sure that this is the way to go!

This is a bit of a joke. I am sick and tired of reporting illegal items - nothing is ever done.X-(

It's actually putting me off buying anything on here.
