Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the beginnings of Dr Who and my son is getting quite excited about watching the programme tomorrow night with his dad.
I watch Dr Who sporadically
My favourite Dr was the one portrayed by Jon Pertwee but have loved the last ones - Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith.
Who is/was your favourite Dr?

Red, Maggie?? You said it was going to be purple! I suppose red is more Christmassy, but don't wear a white beard, will you!!
Although I never watched Dr Who, in the 1960s and 70s, I worked in the BBC wardrobe. I remember one day we went out somewhere in London to do a day's filming for it - can't remember where it was but it was an underground car park, which was empty so I suppose it looked right for whatever the storyline was. Anyway, we got all these extras dressed up at Television Centre - they had horrible rubber, hairy suits. I think they were called Cybermen? Then we all went off to the location in a coach. You should have seen people's faces when the coach pulled up at traffic lights and people alongside could see all these Cybermen looking out of the windows! And you don't want to know what those costumes were like when we peeled them off them at the end of the day. Phew (Need a "holding my nose" smiley!).
And it did spoil the magic a bit when Jon Pertwee was queueing up behind me for his cuppa in the tea break!
And I have another Dr Who related memory. Around the same time, I was involved in a show that was put on for charity at Chiswick Town Hall. We had a Dalek there, with a little man inside it. They got him off the stage into the wings and forgot about him till they heard muffled noises from inside the Dalek and came to his rescue!!
Happy days!

I'm going to watch it. Also watched from behind the sofa when I was a child and when we went to see the Orchestral Doctor Who Live (or whatever it was called) show a couple of years ago the 'old' monsters wandering around still made me feel a bit uneasy!
I now live a 5 minute walk away from the beach they film on although I've never seen them filming. I expect they've been there during the day when I was in work.

Well reddy purple! lol Cybermen are in metal suits Lizzie so they were probably something else. Sounds like you have lots of stories you could tell.

Noo! Not Cybermen!! They were Yeti, that's what they were - Yeti!!
(Oh, the poor old brain!)

Not me, not remotely excited about it. But each to their own and hope all those
who like it enjoy whatever it is they're showing about it today.

I enjoyed that.

So did I, a shame they didn't have more doctors in the flesh, but great idea.
