I watched Dolphins - Spy in The pod last night and was fascinated. It was upbeat and interesting with David Tennant doing the talky bit. These creatures are lovely and have a fun life. The camera work was so good and the Cameras themselves made to look like squid or fish,, even a Turtle!!. There is part two on next week and i cannot wait. I thought it would be a bit boring but NO WAY!!!. Did anyone else watch this programme?.

Missed most of it - simply could not stay awake. I will watch it on i-player.
I will never forget a really magical experience with a pod of wild dolphins, in a bay just outside Miami. I was in a wet suit with a huge foam flotation waitcoat over it as I can no longer swim. I was just sort of floating about when the dolphins approached me, totally ignoring the other swimmers. They came right up to me, gently touching and nudging me and then allowing me to touch them. Then a small calf was shepherded up to me, the calf touched me gently and again I was allowed to touch the calf. Then two adult dolphins swam up, one on each side of me, they picked me up on their fins and swam round the boat carrying me. This happened three times, I think it was different dolphins each time. After gently nudging me up to the swimming platform, the pod swam off. The crew of the boat were amazed, they had never seen dolphins in that bay before and were amazed at the way that the pod focussed on me and totally ignored everyone else.

Stroppy how wonderful. I feel quite emotional reading that.

gawd, Stroppy how lucky are you? the hairs on my arms and the back of my neck all went up reading that. I bet they knew your condition, because of the lifejacket. It's so humbling to think they brought their young to you for a blessing (or the other way around if you believe like that)
You hear of other people who say the experience changed them in some way, has it you Stroppy?
