I have a 8 month old Lab x Spaniel X mystery and I ordered his food , alas i ordered mature instead of puppy. Its wainwrights food for pets at home. Is it a big no to feeding him that or does he need to remain on puppy food.
Thank you 🙂

I don't know but if it was me I would store it until he is older. It will be fine for an adult dog, & buy some more puppy food.:-)

I wish I could get another but it cost £39.99 and if its a no, I will have to drive into town and see if they will change it. ( Nasty 36 mile round trip). I am so silly, I saw the colour of the pack and assumed it was his usual

If you buy the big bags 15k) on line you can have it delivered. Cheaper than PAH. If you buy two at a time it's usually free delivery. I get mine with my Asda delivery but there are loads of pet food places on line.:-)

this was a 15kg delivered free one. This particular food is only at PAH. Interestingly the adult version says 1-7 years and is ok for 6 months plus so might have a comparing of ingredients. Piggy dog eats anything so he has a very tough digestive system. Dumb dog even licked tabasco sauce without any reaction, he went back for more 😕

I'd give it to him. He's a big breed of dog and if he's anything like my lab/spaniel was, has a stomach like a wheelie bin that will take anything. Years ago there was no such thing as puppy food and senior food, it was 'dog food' and dogs were just as healthy. if not healthier than they are these days.

I would feed it to him and just watch for any upset stomach, it is probably just a larger size of kibble. I use a feed for a giant breed and the pieces are huge to stop them from bolting it down. At 8 months old he's not a tiny puppy any more. If you have some of the puppy food left try mixing it to start with. I buy mine online with 2 bags at a time I get free delivery, a discount of 5% and points towards free items. Good luck with it

Senior or mature dog food is not aimed at puppies & does not contain the nutriments or levels of carbs/proteins that pups need. It will probably upset his tummy as well.

Mine all go onto adult food at 8 weeks, Labradors are big dogs so I don't want them growing to quickly and putting extra pressure on their joints, being on adult food encourages slow steady growth

I agree...
sure he will love it!

Thanks all, I checked the ingredients and there is barely any difference and then I saw not suitable for dogs under 6 months....hmmm mature dog food !! Hog dog loves it, he tucked in this morning, destroyed a few more items and crawled into his crate for a snooze
