Deno's Diary Part 3, A new Chapter

Deno (proper name De Novo) was adopted by FHG posters in 2005 when one of them, Shebalator, rescued him from slaughter.

Then - 700lbs underweight with a broken jaw and multiple other ills.




2008 - still struggling with sarcoids but finally fit enough to have a light rider up for the first time so he could
join his mates on a jaunt round the local lanes



2009 - due to sheb’s declining health, a new home was sought for Deno.
A very brave ebayer named upthecreekyetagain ( very apt name I think you will agree) agreed to take him on.
So, now Deno lives in Surrey with the Creeky family, plus 3 lovely mares. He has 5 acres of grass and orchards to roam in and is very happy.



His sarcoids still remain a problem, but a new vet is investigating them further to decide on the best course of palliative care.

Deno is reliant on fundraising and donations for his food, medicines and all the things that make his world that bit nicer.

Bless Lulu, she is a stunner and once schooled will be an asset to you all.

She is a really pretty horse.

We have a new friend, he is 4, welsh section a, 11.2 hh, unbroken and unloved, my mate has taken him on and GG is going to be his mentor, they are in love  Already, 1st proper meet today, bit of a brush and gg sat down, her little man came up and sniffed and snuggled her, if she stroked the dog he went towards her, he is gorgeous and will never end up destined for meat again.

He is called Berry, he came with the name, considering he is unbroken he is fantastic, no headcollar needed to help catch him, you call him and he canters up, he nuzzles you and he loves kisses ( great for my horse allergy !)

He will be loved forever,

Oh my goodness!    Just WHAT are Deno and Posh going to find to do with themselves now the kids are at school?  😮

I'm cold, wet, muddy and smelly but at least the horses are all done.

Deno decided to go walkabout in the middle of having his feet trimmed quickly followed by Posh X-(

I'm impressed Freddie could FIND their feet under all that mud!

Still, now they will be more comfy for their rambling into neighbouring gardens and suchlike 😄

Are they enjoying being 'rid' of Lulu - and how is she doing?

I don't know if they are enjoying Lulu's absence Liz but it doesn't seem to be bothering them :^O

It's certainly easier cleaning up without the hooligan stealing the brushes and pushing the barrow over 😮

No electricity today fro 8am to 8pm - they are repairing the sub-station so going to be cold, cold, cold and no hot food or drinks X-(

Try and keep wrapped up and warm today - tis miserable with no electricity which we take for granted until it isn't there ( is used to power cuts here ).

Well we survived the power cuts but now the cold has set in the hard work has begun 😞

Frozen hosepipes and water troughs - electric fencing shorting out - not to mention getting personally frozen every morning and evening.

Am I missing the Moz? 😮

Ohhhhh I don't miss the large animals when it's winter Creeky - jolly hard work 😞

Website domain needs renewing ( and know I've not kept it updated, sorry ) - is it worth keeping it going or not?????

Not sure about the web site Liz - I don't know how much real interest there is in it.  I think the answer may be to keep it going for another year, let me know the cost of renewal and I'll let you have the money.

I may have more time in the next 12 months to have a go at it myself.

I think interest in Deno has generally wained now that he's safe and his future is secure.

That doesn't make his care any cheaper or less hard work mind you 😞

Interest in Deno & Co can't wane!  He keeps us amused too much !  (or rather the antics of the hosses and the effects on Creeky & Co )  :^O

Just tried to renew and need to sort it with them, but will do and it's for another 2 years so perhaps enough time to try and drum up interest again.

Another freezing night but still think it's better than the rain and mud - but I don't have lots of buckets of water to lug anymore 🙂
