I am sure that most of our fathers/grandfathers were involved in WW2. We owe them so much. Never forget them.

Perhaps we ought to start a thread of our relatives in uniform in honour of this occasion?

D DAY JUNE 6TH 1944

My mum's told me about having to go into the shelter when the sirens went.  Their shelter was a large one so a family who lived across the road used to share their shelter.  They used to play games like I Spy.  It must have been an awful worry for the adults but I should imagine that the youngsters didn't think like that.

One of my uncles who would have been about 3 when the war started was in a children's hospital in Liverpool.  My nan was worried stiff as the Germans bombed Liverpool whilst my uncle was in hospital.  As luck would have it, he was fine.
