Calming Down.

I mentioned about Migraine before. My doctor gave me Amitryptyline to take as she said it treated migraines that occurred on waking and symptoms of nerves ect in menopause i am getting.

Has anyone actually been on these tablets and if so can you tell me what they make you feel like at first as i am nervous of taking them?. And did they help you. i just need to be more specific on this subject?. Thank you.Woman Happy

Calming Down.

i am on amitryptyline to help the symptoms of my me and fibromyalgia.as a mild steady painkiller and i have had no problems at all taking them.but i have a friend who took them years ago for depression and i think they gave her a very strong one and she reacted quite badly but with in 1 day of stopping them she was ok again so i think if you are giong to react to them you will know pretty quickly and them you just do not take anymore and go back to docs.hope this helps rose.Smiley Happy

I take 60mg per day as a muscle relaxant for my back; no ill effects at all, but have built up steadily from 30mg per day to current dosage.

Hi Rose, I was on them for a couple of years, on and off, and they certainly helped clear up quite severe depression.  However they have several uses, including for bedwetting (you may have heard they can cause dry mouth etc) and their mild sedative effect makes them a nice alternative to tranquillizers.  Give 'em a fair crack of the whip, and in the unlikely event they don't suit, there are loads of alternatives.

Thanks mouse. i started sunday and they are mainly for migraine and i actually had a migraine the very next morning ( i thought it was a side effect) but it felt like something was protecting my head like slight cotton wool and stopping it from getting bad. It wore off a lot quicker and i have felt good now even just 3 days in. I been sleeping better and feel calmer as i get very very agitated quickly. maybe they have had a quick effect because my anxiety is so bad!. I know you dont feel the proper antidepressant benefit for about 2 weeks but i feel ok.  Heres hoping, fingers crossed, Woman Very Happy

We changed doctor's about three years back and our previous GP gave me those for pain killers as I had a trapped nerve in my neck due to cervical spondylosis.  They did help for a while but they certainly knocked me out.
