Must admit that I love all parts of a Christmas cake.

I don't dislike it but I don't usually bother. I quite like Christmas pudding but not mince pies.

I thought this was the heavily-disguised Tea Thread but it appears I am am mistaken.
Give me all the parts of a Christmas cake and all you'll get back is a handful of crumbs.

all you'd from me is a licked plate, am fussy about marzipan though , has to be thin

I loath Xmas cake (don't like dried fruit), but I love marzipan and I like icing in small quantities

I like the cake & icing ..... not the marzipan though although if I had to choose between that & Chocolate cake, Chocolate would always win

I can't stand marzipan, cherry bakewell, macaroons or almond slices. My body would react violently to any of those. Being a diabetic type II it's just as well! I'm not particularly partial Christmas puddings either - far too rich, and the waste!
Thus, can I please make an appeal through this channel - I've seen people do it year after year, but please don't put your leftover Christmas pudding out for the birds. Birds will eat anything. The reason I say don't do it, is because nine-tenths of the Christmas puddings you buy contain alcohol. Very little, granted, but there is no surer way of sending one of our feathered friends to that great aviary in the sky than to feed it Christmas cake - their systems cannot take it. I know what I'm talking about. I've seen the results. Very sad. Thank you.

Maggie -
Lat year I made a Christmas cake. Cut it in half to give half to in-laws, son went to cut a slice for himself, managed somehow to drop the whole lot on the floor - it ended up on the bird table. Grrr - not a crumb left for the rest of us. So I made a lovely cake, and didn't even get to taste it.
(Fred - the alcohol is cooked out, I think)?

Over the years, my Brain & my Stomach seem to have parted company over what I like.
