So, on Saturday I did a bit of shopping and found the shop had restocked the Wensleydale with cranberrries cheese.
I like a bit of that now and then.
So, came to enjoy a wee bit for a nibble and thought "Hmmmmmmmm - thems cranberries is packing a bit of an over fruity punch, but still rather lovely" and I continued to cut off a bit and nibble, as you do.
Then thought "Ooooerr - that was more than a bit of a fruity punch" and only then read the label
What I had bought was..........................
Wensleydale with Cranberry, Lime and Cranberry Vodka!!!
Well, it is very very nice and I can thoroughly recommend it - HIC!

Sorry Aerne you are obviously enjoying it, but I don't like booze in my cheese, with it yes but not mixed together, OH on the other hand............
You enjoy it.

I had an even better one from M&S over Christmas - with Cointreau in it.
Ed - I know what you mean because it doesn't sound right either - you'd not think it would mix up nicely or it would do something odd with the cheese,
My absolute fav - when I can get it - is a lovely bit of Samsoe with a nice crisp sherry to wash it down.
Very very calorific but soooooooooo cultured.

I find I have a job to read most labels these days with just my reading glasses on, I have to get my magnifying glass as well. Why do they make the writing so small?

Ummmm - I'm afraid I cannot claim it was because of the wee print - in fact it is quite large really.
That was me just on a grab and flow-past the counter before I looked at anything else tempting.

Oooooooerrrrrr thats different, never heard of Vodka in Cheese. I think they are starting to try different combinations of flavours in food nowadays. Sometimes the most unlikely things. Hedgehog crisp anyone??????????????????.

Oh lordy Rose don't let Pat hear you say that.
At Christmas we had a taste tester in store for Cheddar with whisky, my friend and I tried it oh yuk, I spat mine out into a tissue it was horrible.

Nooo noooo - you are fine.
It's only the flavour of hedgehog - not the actual hedgehog.
No hedgehog is harmed in the making of those flavoured crisps.
The scientists just go around and gather phials of hedgehog aromas, often as they sleep, analyse the content and then make it up with whatever foody ingredients they have that turns out the same.

why are you people messing with the wonderfullness that is cheese??
cheese is sublime
it needs no nuts/fruits/vodka/hedgehogs in it
have them on the side, fill your boots
but please, please, dont mess with the cheese
