I went shopping to this store yesterday with my 5 months pregnant daughter. The shop was jam packed as you would expect at this time. We were queuing for ages at the checkout and my daughter became desperate for a wee. I asked politely if she could use the toilet due to being pregnant and was told absolutely not. I dont think they are under any obligation but a little compassion would have been nice. She then went across the road to another store who let her use the toilet even though we did not spend any money there. As far as I am concerned aldi can shove their shop where the sun dont shine.

i'm afraid the blame and claim culture are responsible for this
if anyone slips and falls, the store is liable
and people were doing this (on purpose)
so shops have to protect themselves against it

Yep I agree but any unscrupulous person could slip and fall on a "placed " lettuce leaf on the shop floor (not just the toilet) and still claim. It was just a case of practically begging for a wee that was degrading. The other store allowed her to go accompanied by a staff member who waited outside the door.

shops are insured for the public on the shop floor and public places though
not the back shops/toilets etc
there is also the risk of theft
i suppose the other thing is, they allow one, where does it stop?
they could have 60 customers all wanting a wee/nosey through the back
my daughter is a kidney patient and carried a card issued by the hospital asking could she in an emergency use the facilities and she has a key for the disabled toilets
fortunatley we never had to ask in a shop
but i can relate very much, its a difficult situation, for everyone concerned

Local housing office refused to let my son use the toilets when he was under 3. Think they thought I had a shotgun. Nearest public toilets were 5 minutes walk away and he wouldn't make it. He made it to their flowerbeds(there or his pants!). When I got home I complained because, after all, I pay their wages, I pay for the building, I even pay for the loo paper(well a very small proportion of itall) so it's mine so why shouldn't the great unwashed be allowed to use their own loos?

It says something about our Society that a pregnant woman can't use a loo when she needs to.
H&S, insurance companies, lawyers and the last labour government (who went H&S mad) should all be ashamed of themselves!
