A Toilet Thread (Faint-Hearted, Turn Away Now)

Am I really weird for asking this?

I really do not like people pooing in my toilet. Seriously - I get quite uptight about it. If you've travelled a long way to reach us for a visit, then fair enough (although there are plenty of public loos en route), or if you're staying over, then absolutely fair enough (although you could always pop to the local supermarket or somesuch first thing in the morning - no? Okay, maybe that's too much, scrub that idea, I can live with it)!

BUT - someone who lives just down the road, pops in for a visit and uses my loo when they could have used their own just minutes before. Why would you do that? I don't even like using public toilets, let alone think about using someone else's for, well, something else :_| Most especially a friend. All my friends now know they are not permitted to poo in my loo, with other casual visitors it's a more difficult subject to broach.

Now - I can't be alone, surely . . . . . ? ? ?

I'm the opposite to you there then pix, I leave it as long as possible before venturing in there!  With all our loos, when you put the light on an extractor fan comes on (I think it's a new building reg) even when there's a window, so I can just slip my arm round the door and switch it on without having to go inside for another half hour.;-)

Re: A Toilet Thread (Faint-Hearted, Turn Away Now)

Our bathrooms and loos have them too but when we moved in the original 1960s loos had Silavent. When you sat down you pulled a cord (like some electric showers have) and a little extractor inside the loo took away every smell! They were wonderful! We searched everywhere to replace them but there was nothing similar.

Loo brushes are horrible things though aren't they! I once knew someone who boasted he put them through the dishwasher to clean them!

I can't see a problem with toilets. I expect most of ours are cleaner than our keyboards!

That's what they reckon isn't it Maggie, and dishcloths and bottoms of handbags and anything public from door handles to shopping trolley handles.

Nasty niffs are easily dealt with, as you say. It's remnants (and germs) I'm so keen on 😐

For those with a hatred of someone else using your loo for a 'shout' rather than a 'whisper' as Huggles very elegantly put it, a tip might be to avoid giving meals or hot drinks to guests as both can commonly trigger the urge to go.  Coffee is particularly good at it, so give tepid tea to your workmen 😄

That might be tricky if you've invited people for dinner!

"Hi, come for dinner. Fancy a packet of crisps?"  :^O

We have a friend who is a builder, and he always provides a Portaloo for his men, so they don't have to ask to use the customer's loo. Isn't that nice of him?

When we were having this house built in the back garden, the first thing to arrive was the workmen's toilet.  Have you seen them these days? 😮

Re: A Toilet Thread (Faint-Hearted, Turn Away Now)

Even on hospital visits through my life, I wait until I get home. It has been up to two weeks.

In hospital - no way Jose (really - two weeks) You can only imagine what shape my tummy was in

As soon as I get home, in my own loo -  then yes thank you, I'm relaxed enough to do the do. 'Cos I know I'm the one to do the cleaning

Re: A Toilet Thread (Faint-Hearted, Turn Away Now)

Nice and warm wood one here :-)......don't like it when you have to get there quickly and you sit down on that seat and it takes your breath away 😐

Agree with what's been said, far more germs are found in many other places, in very high quantities, than we'll ever find in or on our toilets, in fact, I would even go so far as saying that in some peoples places, you'd be better off eating your dinner off of the toilet seat than in the kitchen 😮 😉

Mr Ex - that only describes people who don't want to use public loos - what about those of us who don't want people to use ours?? :^O

Now THAT's a good idea, 'specially if it's real barbed wire (or razor blades) That would definitely be a deterrent (Google here I come)
