Need help, possible scam?

Hi! I purchased an item called

“ WW2 1944 SU-100 Destroyer

Soviet Tank Collectable

Building Blocks Army Green “ on EBAY by the seller “bricking_882”

On the 23rd of July, 2025.

My problem is, I when i looked back at the listing, I recognised the photos were screenshots, from a YouTube video, reviewing the set (i was watching to see what I’d be getting.)

Then i looked back at the account selling and saw it only had 5 reviews, all of which being from re-listed items.

So i paired the odd reviews, with the screenshots listing, and I believe I’ve been scammed. I’m very nervous about it and promptly requested to cancel the order a few minutes after ordering, this was in the early morning. I then asked the seller if we could cancel, and there was no response, I texted a few times hoping to get their attention but I’m being ignored and so is my request.

I haven’t received a response

I haven’t received a response for my cancel request

I haven’t been able to get eBay to step in and try get some help.

The fact that the listing is just photos from a YouTube video made a few months ago, (same story for the other models they’re selling.) is worrying, and I don’t know what to do. I would like to cancel the order, get a refund and buy a different model from a trusted seller, but the seller I’ve bought from won’t interact with anything despite it now being the 25th, it hasn’t even shipped out, absolutely zero interaction towards the buyer (me) or the cancel order request, or the actual order itself.

I don’t know what to do, I’m really really hoping posting this on eBay itself might help push something in the right place. I feel very stupid incase this was a scam and I don’t want to loose that much money.

The YouTube video is called: Detailed Build & Facts About the

SU-100 You Never Knew! Panlos

632022 (Speed Build Review) by Brickmeet, if you choose to view it and compare listing photos to the YouTube video you’ll see it’s how exact same thing. Not a real listing of a product they claim to have.

I would like it if anyone who’s dealt with this before could respond or anyone from EBAY themselves that might be able to help.

Re: Need help, possible scam?

Nothing you yourself can do,  you asked  to cancel the item, but a seller does not have to oblige to do this.

Some sellers are lazy and use other people's / you tube photos as it's easier and quicker,  laziness can then end badly for the seller because it can open up,  for item not as described cases.

Wait for the item to arrive,  if it is not as described in the listing,  as long as you open a case within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery you are guaranteed a full refund.

If this should happen you proceed this way:

Go right of the item in your Purchase History and from More Actions select... Return this item selecting the reason Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.

The seller needs to accept this case within 3 days and refund,  if they want their item back first , they need to pay for that fully tracked return postage, then on receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you.  If they don't ,  need to escalate the case,  ask eBay to step in, and they'll force the refund.

Never listen to any excuse or promise from the seller to close the case early,  and do not forget to escalate.

Re: Need help, possible scam?

The issue is they haven’t sent anything either, like I said there is absolutely nothing happening on the other end, hasn’t sent anything because it’s tracked i would see when it’s sent out, hasn’t talked, hasn’t really done anything. As i said previously i suspect it’s a scam, but il have to wait for the cancel order thing to end by itself, then report it as missing considering the date it arrives is supposed to be tomorrow…

Re: Need help, possible scam?

Sellers are not actually required to produce tracking until after an "item not received" case has been filed.

Not all sellers ship with tracking, and even among those that do, tracking is not always updated as quickly as it should be.

The item may have already shipped and just not received an acceptance scan, or the tracking update may not have reached eBay yet.

You can report an "item not received" the day after the last estimated delivery date, and then the seller has three business days to provide tracking that shows delivery or to refund you; otherwise you have up to twenty-one business days from opening the case to ask eBay to step in and force a refund.
