Vendrors Deliberately Lying!

Why do  eBay repeatedly allow vendors to lie?

I am in the UK and ONLY want to purchase from the UK, so why when I select UK only do I keep finding my purchase now comes from China and takes a month?

If a vendor claims to be UK then I should not have to going through the cancel orders route.

I don't not want to be implicated in custom tax evasion when the vendors lie about the content and value

everything at 1p!

Why do I have to go through the cancel options and wait a month to get my money back (if I'm lucky) when I should have a direct report to eBay.

Vendors that make false claims regarding the service or product should be immediately fined and kicked off for bringing eBay into disrepute. Instead, while they are making money hand over fist, they continue to lack an ethical policy.

Another reason to use Amazon.

When you select UK Only in the search criteria that only refers to the location of the item and not the seller's location.   Many overseas sellers have stock stored in the UK.  You can see the seller's location by looking at their profile.

If they claim that the item is located in the UK and then send from overseas you can report them for Item Location Misrepresentation (use the report link at the bottom of the listing).

Also make sure you open an Item Not Received dispute as soon as the last estimated date for delivery has passed, and leave appropriate feedback.

Re: Vendrors Deliberately Lying!

All i look at is the latest estimated delivery date plus the sellers location on their feedback page.

I make my desision on buying based on what i see/read.

Re: Vendrors Deliberately Lying!

As the website is .co.uk, isn't it inferred that items listed will be available in the UK?

So, eBay declarer 'UK Only' only means all items available in the UK supplied from anywhere in the world so why use .co.uk. and not .com?

So is that why the 'Default' and 'Within 25 miles' options never work either, or do they also mean anything that can be deilverd within 25 miles from your location?

Re: Vendrors Deliberately Lying!

ebay.com is the main website aimed primarily at users in the US.  Other countries such as the UK (.co.uk), Canada (.ca), France (.fr), Germany (.de), etc have their own websites so that buyers can see more easily what items are available to them.   All items on .co.uk are available to buyers in the UK but they don't have to actually be located in the UK or sold by a UK seller.

'UK only' simply means that the item is located in the UK.  The seller can be based in the UK or overseas.

'within 25 miles' only relates to items that are to be collected.

Re: Vendrors Deliberately Lying!

@anniebody I think you're wholly correct; eBay is happy to allow vendors to lie… which in the mid-to-long run has the same effect as eBay encouraging vendors to lie. Will anyone who  doubts that, say why?

I, too, am in the UK and only want to buy from the UK, yet when I select 'UK only…'
Does anyone here doubt, eBay's interpretation is, at best, location; eBay likes to pretend that origin is irrelevant.

Whether or not your vendor claims to be UK should have nothing to do with the 'cancel orders…' route. Will you rephrase that bit?

You should not have to bother, yet Vendors valuing everything at 1p so clearly seems to show they're lying, HMRC should jump on it with open arms.

Generally, you have to wait a month to get your money back because whatever pretence is presented, that month gives the vendor a chance to invest your money at least once; possibly, several times over…

Will you say what 'I should have a direct report to eBay…' might mean?

Yes, vendors making false claims should be fined and 'kicked off…' for bringing eBay into disrepute. More usefully, they should be reported to law enforcement.

'While they are making money hand over fist, they continue to lack an ethical policy…' is
neither unintelligible nor meaningless, but it has no place in English…

'While they are making money hand over fist, they continue to lack an ethical policy…' is so clearly unidiomatic, it says at least as much about your use of English as anything else.

If you think prices for buying or selling on Amazon are usefully comparable to eBay's, will you post four or five examples?

Really, sml192? Had all of that been true still, how would it have been helpful, please?

Re: Vendrors Deliberately Lying!

Really, Roger… ?

When all you look at is the delivery date plus the sellers location… what else is left to see or read or otherwise to make your decision on?

Come to that, if what matters is the delivery date how could the seller's location come into this?

Either way, what else is left to see or read or otherwise to
make your decision on?

Re: Vendrors Deliberately Lying!

I agree . Vendors are deliberately lying about location. They are also lying about delivery services too. They advertise 48 tracked Royal Mail and then use Evri.  I have pointed this out in feedback but Ebay always deletes it. Ebay is casting a blind eye. They know what is going on.
