Hi everybody!
The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.
Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!
Our eBay Community Team is made up of dave@ebay and marco@ebay. Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order, and will quote the original question in each answer.
Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.
If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!
Many thanks,
Your eBay Community Team

What is the average promoted listing percentage, im currently promoting everything at 10% but that means i can't afford to offer a customer coupon, would promoting at 5% and offering a 5% coupon be more beneficial

Thanks Marco. So to be clear, if the buyer collects (for example) 90 days after the sale, the clock would start at 90 days and run to 120 days?
Thanks for your reply, cra2992.
It would never go that far, as I don't think any sellers would be willing to wait that long for an item to be collected, so in that scenario the seller might cancel and issue a refund. However, the 30 days will kick in on the collection date you arrange with your seller.
Thank you,
Marco

I just wondered if eBay is aware of a delay that seems to be affecting the eBay + Nectar promotion that started in early April and was active throughout that month, whereby a total of 3, 4 or 5 eBay purchases during April would earn 500, 1000 or 1500 bonus Nectar points (only for one set of purchases in that period)? It was stated that the bonus points would be awarded by 16 May (the normal points were awarded on the usual timescale). The eligible items show clearly on my eBay Nectar page, marked with a Bonus points logo, and show their normal points, along with a summary of the promotion's terms. Needless to say, the bonus points haven't arrived. A couple of chat sessions with Nectar have seemed reassuring but haven't caused the bonus points to arrive. Just wondered if eBay is aware of any issue that's about to be resolved?

Dave - if you are speaking to a person regarding this error - could the wording of the Refund be possibly looked at as it suggest a full refund rather than partial, it is confusing and could prevent a heart skipping a beat or two. Thanks
Order 23-11588-31028 has been refunded

Can you advise about postage to jersey from mainland Uk ? Under your postage it is classed as domestic however I could only sell via GSP the customer was quoted £36 when it is the same with Royal Mail as if posting within the Uk?

Do ebay sellers offering free postage have more success than sellers who charge for postage
In general buyers will purchase items that are showing free postage. This also helps your items in search, if you have a look at our YouTube channel here, there are some great videos on listing optimisation which give more detailed information on it.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi michmav, thanks for your question.
The answer to this would be yes, we'd recommend offering the coupon and 5% on promoted listing. This is always a good combo.
Thank you,
Marco

Hi contessa35. thanks for your question.
We are aware of the issue. However, there is no much we can do in terms of Nectar points. In this scenario, I would recommend contacting Nectar directly for further assistance as they can manage/credit/award points, while we are unable to do so over here.
Thank you,
Marco

Thanks for that Dave - how is this going to impact the data you have forwarded to HMRC on our accounts?
Im not sure correcting the error will be classed as an improvement, when your 'designers' make a system, dont they check it actually works?
This issue has been in your system for weeks now, so much adverse information will need correcting.
Hi @a45heaven
Unfortunately I don't have any information on how the data is shared with HMRC so I can answer that but all changes are tested and fully working before going live. Its not technically an issue as the information its providing is correct but I understand it may cause confusion by how its displayed.
Thanks,
Dave

@a45heaven wont be able to reply to you as the chat is now closed. If you can create a post and tag them in it, I'm sure they will be able to help with an answer.
Thanks,
Dave
