Wrong item delivered, delivery company being awkward

I ordered a pair of jeans, package looked damaged and had a book in it instead. Contacted the seller who was just as confused, they only sell jeans and the book was hardback so probably more expensive anyway.
The packaging looks like it was opened up and maybe taped back together with the wrong label put on? I'm pretty sure it's a mistake from the delivery company (Yodel) but they seemed to think it was the seller's problem.

Not sure who's left to contact, or if I can ask for a refund from the seller?

Re: Wrong item delivered, delivery company being awkward

Thanks for the link, I've had a look but not sure any of the situations apply. Pretty sure it's not an issue with a seller, it's the delivery company that fumbled it. Can't see the seller agreeing to a return or refund seeing as this issue was after it left their hands.

Re: Wrong item delivered, delivery company being awkward

The seller will have to accept the return.

Open a case stating that you did not receive the item you ordered - 'item not as described'.

The seller can provide a label and get you to send what you did receive to them, or they can refund you and tell you to keep the item.

Then, they can pursue a case with Yodel.

Their contract is with the carrier and you.  So, it is their responsibility to refund you and then try to get compensation from Yodel.
