Would you trust a seller who chose not to receive messages from buyers?

I was interested in a guitar effects pedal but needed to know something more as the description provided is very short and lacking in any details, but as I clicked send a system message popped up saying  'We're sorry, but this seller has chosen not to receive messages.'

As item in question is £100 plus delivery I'm a little wary. I know buyer protection and the lot but a possible return to a seller who doesn't want to communicate or engage, I think I'm going to stay away.

What would you guys do?

I have never seen or received such a message....   'We're sorry, but this seller has chosen not to receive messages.'

However,  if seen personally,  yep I would stay away.   For me,  it shows this seller will not engage should there be any future issue with an item you may purchase from them.

In my humble opinion 🤔.... Avoid!

No I wouldn't trust a seller that doesn't accept messages, I have had this happen & moved on, bought elsewhere.

Neither do I trust sellers who don't answer messages & I'm dubious about sellers who don't respond to offers, even if it's just to decline them!

If it proves to not be as described, arrives damaged or not at all your are covered by the Money Back Guarantee.  If the Seller ignores you at that stage e-Bay will "step-in," refund you and then chase the Seller.

Incomplete descriptions are a pain and you never know if somebody is just lazy/careless or if they are hiding something.  They may be perfectly decent and simply don't know much about the item.  As for what I'd do in your place I can't say as it would depend exactly what the listing did and didn't say.

If it happens to be a Business Seller you have the legal right to return something within fourteen days for any reason, including simply not liking it.  If it's isn't Not as Described, damaged &c you'd have to pay the return postage but again e-Bay would make sure you got your money.  It depends how badly you want whatever it is and how much risk you feel is justified.  For a common item I'd look elsewhere but if I was unlikely to find another, or another at the price, I'd be more inclined to chance it.

It's not a rare item at all, so I can buy it elsewhere it's just that it is at a competitive price.

The description is bare essentials with only one picture of the item, in a way a blessing in disguise as I decided to contact the seller because of this.

It is a private seller and I know if there are any issues I can initiate a return it but seeing this is a potentially non communicative seller it may take several days for the case to be resolved by Ebay which is a pain.

I made this post because it's the first time I see this behaviour and wondered if it's any common nowadays.

I also am wary of seller who don't respond to offers or questions, it shows a total lack of interest in a potential buyer, so to me it gives an indication of how they'll behave if any issues arose. I prefer to cover these angles before placing an order, so I normally contact a seller before ordering to see if and how they engage.

I'm a private seller and always answer questions and offers, I believe it's just basic decency.
