Hello,

I bought an item by mistake (I thought it was made of a different material), first time in over 20 years with ebay.

Seller declined my return request (I wrote to him and wanted to cover return cost).

Is that it?

If they are a private seller just selling unwanted items and you just don't want the product then yes they can decline it. You are free to sell the item yourself though.

Fair enough but the seller would still be out of pocket for the original postage which they would have to refund through no fault of their own.

So many ways to solve this problem. 

eg: just destroy the items and claim you received them like that...

+ few other options...

Looks like genuine, honest one doesn't stand a chance.

Mmmm, me thinks if that is your way of returning items for a change of mind reason,  that is,  to damage destroy them and fraudulently  inform a seller it was damaged on receipt , many peeps here,  will be placing you asap,  on their blocked buyers list !

I don't think you understood - I requested return and accepted outcome.

I could have done something else (some people probably do, I don't think all ebayers are as great as you) and I did not.  It was an example.
