Tax code for buyers?

Hi I’m in UK and purchased a used jacket from Italy. The seller has now told me I need to pay an extra 20 Euros for postage? Tax? And tha I need to provide a ‘tax code’ otherwise he will cancel purchase. I’m not sure what code this is? My NI number? And does a seller need this to send me my item?

I think you would be wise to let him cancel and don't give your ni number to him

Never give your NI number to any seller on Ebay. If the wrong person gets hold of it it can be used in ways you would not want.

Could this extra amount be for VAT? Since Brexit, VAT is payable on imports from EU countries. The seller may be asking for your "tax code" in case you are VAT registered.
