Sort: Ending soonest / Ending soonest + bids

Just browsing and saw this new option. Can anyone explain how the option 'Ending soonest + bids' is an improvement on plain old fashioned 'Ending Soonest' 'cos I can't.

Why would a buyer want to use the '+bids' option only and surely those items actually ending right now with zero bids will be missed. I don't see this as an improvement to selling.

Re: Sort: Ending soonest / Ending soonest + bids

Items about to end with no bids tend to be re-listed, effectively giving an interested buyer more time to look at them, read the description, learn the postage amount, check seller's feedback, ask any question of the seller etc.

Items about to end with bids, especially with only a few minutes left before the auction ends, would have more priority for a buyer, as they'd need to look at those items first, race through the above-mentioned checks, consider their bid, then place the bid.

Both of which can easily be seen by just using 'Ending Soonest' without blocking out sellers zero bids listings.

ATM the option has vanished.

Re: Sort: Ending soonest / Ending soonest + bids

When you're running down on minutes or actual last minute on an auction, seeing all last moment auctions with and without bids require more mental sorting by the buyer.

I've no particular concern whether + bids is shown or not, but was merely answering your question "why?" with a reason that I myself have found at least once or twice when I occasionally sort by Ending soonest.

I only buy on eBay but I also sympathise with your points on how it could adversely affects sellers.

From a buyer's point of view, no harm having Ending soonest + bids. But you've shown how it's not good for sellers, so it's just as well eBay has removed it.

Re: Sort: Ending soonest / Ending soonest + bids

Blocking out soon-to-end auctions with no bids wouldn't affect me, when I'm shopping recreationally, as 0 bid items tend to be automatically re-listed, I welcome the extra time to read the listing, check seller's feedback etc. It hasn't stopped me buying from a seller who originally had 0 bids.
