Re: Scam

Hopefully people will see your post,  and take note that with any message which asks for you to click on a link to never do this.

Re: Scam

I'd guess that the "offer" you received looks very much like the one shown in this thread, @emcloud77 :

If so then here's another one for you kat@ebay ...

There is another post about this today in Member to Member with details of what the message looks like.

OFFER SCAM

There will be people caught out by this who don't have anybody at home to ask and don't know about the forum.

It's a shame Ebay can't get ahead of this and send a genuine, urgent email to all members warning them of this scam.

Is this something that would ever be considered?  A lot of Ebay sellers are vulnerable for a variety of reasons.

Re: Scam

I have basically repeated your post @thesmokingrunner

I should have read it before I wrote mine.

Sound response from yourself as always.

Re: Scam

Hi All,

Thanks for the tags.

@emcloud77

Thank you for your post and reporting this. We don't ask for bank details in offer messages or give links for them so this .I'll get it reported so the necessary action can be taken.

Thank you,

Kat

I am currently out of office and will return on the 2nd of June. Please expect a delay in my reply

Re: Scam

Absolutely no problem @jckl1957 - thank you the acknowledgement and thank you for the compliment too.

The important thing - as ever - is that there are no conflicting opinions in any of the posted replies. One can only hope eBay either as you suggest send out an official urgent warning email to all users (rather than just post something on the Community Pages which not everyone will see) or that they include a common identifier from the scam messages to the restricted list.

After all, if eBay can prevent phone numbers and email addresses being exchanged it shouldn't be too difficult to add something like check-993.my to the restricted list - should it?
