Hi, y'all
Just a quick bit of advice
Took delivery of sellers' unwanted phone, which was described as unlocked.
On initial charge, it requested its" PIN number, then disabled itself.
Clearly, seller had not factory reset it so it would be functional to a new owner.
Have got in tuch with Seller, and while I wait, can anyone advise what are my rights at this point?
I have had experience like this before, where sellers need to disclose iCloud IDs and passwords and are reluctant to do so....
any input appreciated,
B

IF the item was described as unlocked in the listing and this is a recent purchase then open a not as described case under Ebays Money Back Guarantee.
Follow the instructions carefully and do not close the case on any promises from the seller. If you need to also escalate the case for Ebay to step in.

Thankyou 1956..while I wait for the seller to reply, I checked the Request to Return page for the item, and it says Seller does not accept returns for the item.
What does this practically mean, and how long before I actually initiate the return request?
( you answered quicker thn the seller!)

As missdollydaydream has said, that will only relate to buyers wishing to return an item because they have changed their mind.
The phone you have recieved is not as described so you will need to open a case for 'Item Not As Described' if the seller doesn't provide you with the necessary information to unlock/reset it - because it is clearly not unlocked as the seller had described it, ebay should take your side if you open a case and will require the seller to issue a tracked return label, and ebay will issue a refund to you when the tracking shows the phone has been confirmed as delivered back to the seller.
Do not under any circumstances go down the 'Request to Return' route - it is likely to be declined because the seller doesn't accept buyer remorse returns.

Sorry only just came back online.
Business sellers have to accept items back for any reason.....even if you change your mind within a certain time. If the items not as described then the seller has to pay for the return postage. If its just a change of mind then you have to pay for the return tracked postage.
With private sellers.......they MUST accept not as described cases and pay for return tracked postage. Private sellers do not have to accept returns for "change of mind purchases" . Some do but again you would have to return the item tracked at your expense. Do not argue with a private seller..........if the item is not as described (your phone is) just open a not as described case and if the seller does not play ball.....just escalate the case for Ebay to step in with a refund.
