RMA

I had a defective item and returned it through ebay....I received the following message....

'Full payment has been refunded to you. Please wait for us for the instructions with the RMA number before return if you need to return next time. Otherwise we can't handle your returned package. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.'

So is this a scam

“RMA number”

From Google -

RMA is an acronym for Return Material Authorization. A RMA number is assigned to the service order that is created when a customer requests repair, or service of product believed to be defective.

If you have used an eBay case for your return the seller cannot add further conditions.

Just proceed with the case.

RMA

sounds like the Chinese who have facility in the uk to send but no facilities to take returns.....first they try and make you take 50% refund and keep the item then when you demand full refund you get it and keep the item....

RMA

@ludlow_kissel  On ebay, sellers have the option to assign an RMA number when a return case is opened. There is a setting that sellers can tick so that, when a return is opened, they get to assign an RMA for the user to put in the parcel when they send it back. If ebay are providing the return label, it isn't given to the buyer until the seller adds their RMA. They have three days to provide it then a label is provided anyway so it can't be used to stop a return.

So it sounds like the seller uses the RMA option and you returned using your own label before the RMA had been given to you. All they're telling you is to wait for the RMA before sending next time you make a return. It just helps identify the return and match it to the case for high volume sellers.

Nothing to worry about and it's an ebay provided facility so nothing dodgy. Info here: Setting up your return policy | eBay

As you've got your refund this time, no harm was done but it's just a heads up for the future.
