Paypal checkout problem.

A few days ago I tried to purchase an item that was a "buy in now" using my debit card which is in my PayPal wallet. I had done this exact same thing just a few days before but to pay for an item won in an auction without any problems.

I was prompted to authorise the transaction by my bank which I did successfully and returned to PayPal but instead of the payment going through the little "loading circle" just kept spinning. There is nothing wrong with either my debit card or my PayPal account and my PayPal account is only ever used to pay for items on Ebay and none have ever been high value. I attempted to do this four times with the same result.

I solved that one by asking my daughter to buy it for me BUT what I'm worried about is that I am currently watching an item that I want to bid on but if I win, I'm absolutely terrified that I will have the same issue and will not be able to pay for it as obviously I cannot ask my daughter to do it as its an auction.

Can anyone please tell me what the problem may have been because as much as I really want to win this item there is no way that I want to put the seller in the position of having a non payer even if it is through no fault of my own.

I'm sorry that this is long. Thank you.

@joy_spnfan A night owl I see! Hope you got some sleep. I don't know the answer, but you should try the easiest things first . eBay will blame your browser if you ask them anyway, so clear you cookies etc. If that doesnt work, you should turn off and on again and try again. If that doesn't work you should try a different browser . I use Opera for the occasions where nothing else works. It is light on memory and works when nothing else does usually) If you use the app try reloading it.

If you want to do a test I have some .99p items which I would be happy to refund if the payment goes through for you.

Re: Paypal checkout problem.

I'm really sorry for the late reply and I just wanted to update in case anyone else reads this who has the same problem. I also want to thank you for your offer which was very kind of you and very much appreciated!

I won the auction and had exactly the same problem so I tried adding my card directly to Ebay and also carrying out your suggestions but it didn't work and I had a message saying server error.

Remembering that you mentioned the browser, I went directly to their website and it worked! I was able to add my card and pay so it seems that the problem was caused by something to to with the Ebay app and without your suggestion I wouldn't have thought to go to their actual website and I was so relieved that it worked because it might sound silly but not being able to pay was terrifying.

Again thank you so much for your very kind reply and your help.

Re: Paypal checkout problem.

This happened to me last night using PayPal to pay for an Iceland grocery order.  Spinning circle on PayPal website but the order and payment went through anyway.  I presumed it was a transfer back to the Iceland website problem because PayPal website worked properly on eBay (.com website and PayPal website) right after.
