Hi I've ordered 4 books as one order from a seller , today only 3 arrived (they all have the same tracking number so I'm not expecting the 4th book separately )
I want to return for a refund , I can't see how to open a return for the full order , only each separate book but then I only get the refund for the book that's missing not the whole order , I can't open item not received because the tracking will show delivery
What is the best way to approach this , thanks

You can open a not as described for each order, make the statement all sent in same package with one book missing , not as described.

Some of the large book and media sellers do sometimes send their items in more than one parcel if, for example, the items are stored at different warehouses. I buy regularly from one of the best known book sellers on eBay, and often receive more than one package.
If it's one of these large companies (with a feedback score in the millions), I would advise you to contact the seller, before opening cases. You will probably find the other one is on the way, and will arrive soon, most likely before you've even received a response.

I'd contact the seller before asking for a refund. The 4th book might be on the way, or it might have been omitted from the order by mistake and the seller can send it on. Maybe they couldn't find it and they'll just refund the cost of that one book and you can keep the other three. There's no way of knowing until you contact the seller, but it seems a shame to send 3 books back if you wanted them.

As the OP said that they were all given the same tracking number, it isn't likely that the 4th book was sent in a separate package.
However, I would also recommend first contacting the seller to ask before pursuing a claim for INAD.
