Does anybody else have fears about the new February set up. If I understand this correctly, there5 will be a purchase tax added to list prices of a % AND a flat fee ?
This is absolute madness and I am certain will drastically affect business as a seller and buyer. If things become more expensive to buy, sales will naturally drop off.
In addition, sellers will also have to track their dispatches, thus adding to postage costs and therefore increasing buying costs.
Ebay hold funds until delivered items , so sellers funds are effectively in the hands of carriers, whilst of course interest is earned on held funds.
I cannot see any benefit at all in this new scheme to users of the site.

Look, this is eBay and they're here to make money for themselves. They scrapped fees for private sellers and frightened themselves about losing money so they thought this up to get it back. It's hilarious that they're selling it the way they are but this is the eBay way
I don't get all the hysterical posts, if you don't like it stop using the site. If it doesn't bother you carry on. eBay will carry on because it's still the biggest out there and new people come along all the time who only know whatever set up is current and are happy with it.
The internet is a big place, sell/buy elsewhere if this is a deal-breaker but I just wish people who aren't really going to leave anyway would stop stomping their feet and wailing because it's getting really tedious.

I completely agree and have posted a similar post to yours. It makes no sense and will only drive away buyers. Only response was from a moderator saying I should be business seller and completely missing the point we are making, or chooses to ignore the issue. Watch the sales figures drop now. Best of luck my friend.

The new set up on ebay in Feb doesn't affect Business sellers,so the mod gave good advice 😉

The mod was right.

" will only drive away buyers."
What will drive away buyers is sellers who ignore feedback policies.

As a buyer who purchases quite a lot of low value items it does put costs up at 75p an item - I will often buy more than one item (postcards, stamps...). Perhapsseller will be willing to relist a bundle to lower the cost, as a seller I would. It won't change things for buying from businesses.

It will put prices up for items from private sellers. Buyers pay no additional fees when purchasing from a business seller.

Yes, the mod was correct
They gave you the right advice

Post 2 says - 'I don't get all the hysterical posts, if you don't like it stop using the site.'
Exactly.
I have seen posts saying the change is 'terrible' and 'appalling' and sellers have a 'massive dilemma'.
There are terrible and appalling things happening in the world, as anybody who has watched the news this week knows, and lots of us have faced massive dilemmas.
But this is just Ebay.
The changes only affect private sellers unloading their own unwanted stuff. Adapt and accept the changes. Really it is not that big a deal, is it?
