Negative feedback

Over the past 3 months I have had issues with sellers getting it wrong so I left negative feedback for them.

My issues are ebay has removed both feedbacks with out an valid explanation.

So my question is what is the point of the feedback system?

Should we just not bother leaving feedback at all if they are just going to remove the bad ones to make the bad sellers look good.

I have been on ebay for 23 years were all those feedbacks just a waist of time?

Did you contact the sellers first (even opening a return counts) to give them a chance to sort out the issue before you left negative feedback? If you didn't I believe that can be a reason for the seller to be able to get eBay to remove the negative feedback.

If you opened a case of either not received or not as described and then had to get eBay to step in as the seller hadn't responded and you mentioned either the case or eBay having to get involved that is against their feedback rules and can be removed.

yes I contacted the sellers, they weren't helpful at all, also i did not mention anything to do with having opened a case.

i have since discussed it with eBay one was removed because he has never had a negative be for and the other was removed because the seller replied  to the feedback with bad language.

so my conclusion is eBay are hiding bad sellers by removing there negative feedbacks so its a no win situation

Its a waste of time in my opinion. Its pretty easy as a seller to get negs removed, and even if they leave them they’re pretty well hidden now.

I don’t bother leaving feedback myself but had a feedback as a seller that was not to my liking, it was on a positive but it said my item made the buyer ill - (something that this buyer evidently did a lot to try and wangle a goodwill refund without return).

I got on chat and the agent removed it as soon as I asked. They agreed that it could affect future sales, which is the important thing to eBay.

If all goes well we get automated feedback now, which I like.

You will get automated feedback where the buyer can't be bothered to leave any.

If the buyer does bother to leave feedback and is happy you will still get their positive feedback.

If the buyer is unhappy, you will still get their neutral or negative feedback.

In cases where the buyer is less than happy, but doesn't feel the level of disappointment with their item warrants a claim against the seller, nor warrants a negative/neutral feedback, they may deliberately not leave feedback.  If in this case, the ebay system then leaves an auto positive, the buyer is likely to be a bit miffed, and will be much more likely to leave neutrals and negatives in the future.  I see auto feedback as a double-edged sword.

I am only in favour of auto-positive feedback for sellers where there is no reported problem if there is also (non-removable) auto-negative when there is a problem 😉

Ebay has shafted its customers for years the seller always gets the better end of the stick even when ebay can see the truth in front of them but they make money from the sellers more than any buyers hence why we get shafted TRUE FACT...

Cannot agree, buyers have always had the most protection from Ebay, even when the sellers have done nothing wrong. If a buyer opens a totally false claim that an item is not as described, Ebay will always take the buyers side. As for Ebay making more from sellers than from buyers, for private sellers this is now not the case, all charges come from the buyer due to the new, false, buyer protection charge. So NOT true fact.

When I look at the number of sellers on the seller discussion boards complaining about ebay always siding with the buyer, and then I look in the buyer discussion board at all the threads from buyers complaining that ebay always sides with the seller, I think the actual "true fact" is that in fact, the ebay system is pretty even handed in its disdain for for both buyers and sellers to be honest 😉

A buyer has just put negative feedback on a listing I sold, first of all they wanted to buy outside EBay rules, then eventually paid and no communication for nearly two weeks, I asked when they wanted to collect and no response so I told them I was going to refund and then today they send me negative feedback but I cannot send them negative feedback I can only report !!!! Massive disappointment in EBay rules, I have been selling on EBay for over 20 years

Big-Boom your membership started in 2012 13 years ago Feedback has always in my opinion been the backbone of selling and buying as it gives both sides an accurate perspective of both, But sometime  feedback is left with haste sometimes anger and or frustration, this needs to be looked at properly from both sides and before Neutral or Negative left both parties should be contacted and have a chance to reply, Ebay in my opinion has changed over the past years since being sold, Hope this all changes for the better asap !!

Happy selling/buying

Hi Foxy, you shouldn't infer anything from the labels Ebay put against peoples names, they will do it to you one day and you will go from "contributor" to "Helper" and make you look like you are on their payroll getting perks for trying to correct the narrative.

In the US they use "Rockstar" alot. I would like to be "Royalty" or "Tiger" something much less corporate. It only refers to how many posts and Kudos you get.

I had a similar issue - the seller decided that even though they offer easy returns they halved the amount I'd paid. I challenged with themselves and got nowhere and in the end raised it with eBay who TBH were ghreat and made up the difference.

I wanted to share my poor experience and felt a negative review was fair. However it didn't seem to get posted and the seller kept their 100% positive status. Seems wrong only positive reviews are allowed, am I missing something?
