As a buyer I made my first ebay purchase where the listing used Simple Delivery.
I was able to choose from 'Standard Tracked' or 'Express Tracked' but the courier was hidden from me.
I only knew what courier the seller would use when they uploaded the tracking number so no more being able to skip a particular seller/listing where there is a courier we want to avoid.

I won't be buying on Ebay where simple delivery is the only option. It's ridiculous not to be able to see the courier being used! I have to have parcels delivered to work premises and the bad couriers just leave parcels outside the front door if it's locked after 5.30pm. I will only buy where Royal Mail is offered, full stop. Ebay has made a very grave mistake with this system.

And ebay is perfectly happy with a seller doing this. Honesty and integrity are not requirements for selling on ebay.

But it is not the seller doing this - it is eBay. The only choice sellers have is to only use Royal Mail or Evri, and that then makes it more expensive for the buyer. Neither seller nor buyer have any choice

That means you won't be buying from quite a few private sellers. I've opted to be Royal Mail only, but it makes the postage more expensive. My local Evri team are great but the nearest drop off is a 16 miles round trip - I don't drive and my father is on crutches with severe arthritis so only doing essential journeys!

Exactly, I lost a sale 2 days ago because Ebay have automatically changed my listings. It was 8pm on Frday night but Ebay had changed my settings to show next day posting by Evri. I just could not do that so seller cancelled.
And today, Sunday 17th August, I have lost the chance of getting an LP that I have been spent 30 years searching for because Seller says they cannot find a way to have it listed as Royal Mail Postage. Evri exempt "Vinyl Records " from loss or damage compensation so it should not be even possible to list Vinyl as being sent with Evri.
That said - during a search there was a "Private "seller - 6.5K items sold, 5,1010 listed and postage showing as RM 2nd class !!. So some sellers have a way to get round simple delivery.

I live on the top floor of a Tenement - 3rd floor. The area I live in is all Tenements. None of the couriers want to deliver here as they say they are not being paid to climb stairs. The result is they use new recruits who cannot or claim not to speak or be able to read English and it's never the same person. So they just dump all the parcels for numerous people in numerous building out on the street. They don't even stop the Van but just throw them out the window. Evri depot is like a secret military installation . We have tried to get a phone number for depot managers but have failed. Evri also say they cannot do anything about Couriers as they are self employed and Evri also claim they don't even know who the Couriers are . ( This was a text reply via a neighbour ).

It's not possible to change just one listing to be just RM or Evri, has to be done on all.
Evri will send vinyl but compensation is not available, but as eBay guarantee items sent by Simple Delivery they surely will cover it. So probably need to check with/complain to eBay, otherwise yes, SD should automatically be Royal Mail for vinyl and other things they don't offer compensation for.
I just bought 2 items from a private seller, one item was Evri and the other SD, so yes some listings are staying with the postage the seller chose rather than SD.

Go back to the seller of the vinyl and start again - Simple Delivery/eBay should look after it all no matter how it is send, Simple Delivery takes away all seller responsibility of lost or damaged items, unless not properly packaged.
