I've recently won an item and was expecting it to arrive in its original box since it was displayed on the listing but alas, it didn't. I feel a bit scammed to be honest. I've messaged the seller but not heard back.
I can't see an option in eBay's help system to address this particular problem. How would you handle this?

In every listing is eBay's 30 day MBG Money Back Guarantee policy, it explains the actions you need to take when receiving an item not as described.
Proceed this way now:
You have received an item not as described, go right of the item in your Purchase History and from More Actions select... Return this item selecting the reason Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.
The seller needs to accept this case within 3 days and refund, if they want their item back first , they need to pay for that fully tracked return postage, then on receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you. If they don't , need to escalate the case, ask eBay to step in, and they'll force the refund.
Never listen to any excuse or promise from the seller to close the case early, and do not forget to escalate.

As above.
If the original box was in the pictures and the description didn't say it wouldn't be included the Seller hasn't got a leg to stand on.
Don't be fobbed-off with promises like "If you close the case I'll send it to you." Only close it when/if it's been resolved to your satisfaction.

I had a competitor selling an item with a picture of a professional looking box.
However all they sent out was a CDROM.
They are around 90% feedback due to this.
Nearly all complaints were about missing box.
Its a trick to make you think your getting more.
By not sending box the postage is a lot cheaper.
