Does anyone know how to limit the email updates sent to buyers? I never sell but when I start a new project I often make multiple purchases from 2 or 3 devices. My Inbox is then spammed continually with unwanted emails.
Support tell me I can't unsubscribe or choose which ones I want. Anyone have a workaround aside from blocking the sender as that would junk the few that I do want?
Honestly, confirmation of the order placed and when it's delivered is all I need. I understand others might want more but surely a checkbox in the comms preferences would be possible?

Unfortunately that will have little effect unless you turn off the 'Item dispatched' and Item Recieved' notifications, in which case you won't get any notifications at all.
I regularly get notifications for:
Seller preparing item for dispatch
Item dispatched (with tracking information), often two separate messages from each of ebay and the carrier
Item out for delivery, again often a message from each of ebay and the carrier
Item delivered - again two messages
And then often an Item Delivered - How Did Our Carrier Do?
Sometimes there are others along the way - at least 8 messages for each package, which becomes confusing when you have made multiple purchases.
Literally all we need to know is:
one message when the item is dispatched (including the carrier details and tracking number - not the current ebay format where the tracking is obfuscated behind a link which forces you to sign in to your
account to get at it!)
One message when the tracked item is out for delivery
One message to confirm delivery has been made (and only needed so that if we haven't actually recieved that delivery, we know to take action/go and find where it has been delivered to before we lose it altogether!)
No other messages are necessary.

Thanks for replying Kat but unfortunatley I've already been there myself and also with support without fixing the problem.
As fortherbale says, there's far too many emails per purchase and no way to shut them off. I often make 10 or more individual purchases for a project so you can see why we are frustrated when our inbox has 3 figure emails to wade through.
I assume you have a method of feeding this back, beyond the usual customer service platitudes and would appreciate your help. This is making eBay an unpleasant place to purchase.

To save filling my inbox I marked them as spam
then when i am expecting mail go into spam and just keep the ones I want.
Does not stop you getting them but at least they are in a separate box and saves the inbox getting full

I'm in the same boat. The deluge seemed to start sometime after New year. Most annoying.
I use Yahoo for email and my work around has been to set up a new folder and then go to Settings > Filters and set filters up that specify that if
email FROM contains eBay
and BODY contains X
then MOVE to the new folder
Have set up six filters so far, see how it goes, X for the six being either:
is out for delivery
is due to be delivered
we delivered your parcel from
we've received your parcel from
your order has arrived
your order has been delivered
