It's getting more and more frustrating having to determine whether items are actually UK based or not.
So many sellers who have a UK based address are shipping from China. It's a painstaking process to go through.
Some are easier than others to identify because they will state delivery dates well into the future, but some will have dates only a week away, which although seems too long is understandable if the seller needs time to locate, package, and post. Yesterday I saw an item with an estimated delivery of 7-10 days. I messaged the buyer asking if he could ship earlier and his reply was shipping normally takes 10-15 days, sometimes you will get it sooner, sometimes later. So obviously being shipped from China.
I passed on the purchase as I need this for the coming weekend. The filter to search for "Items in UK Only" does not really work.
Rant over.

I don't see it as a rant, you should be able to expect that multi B$ corporations do good work, its really Ebay do not ensure it works, or police it to make sure it is properly helpfull 😞

Also how are these sellers posting from China able to advertise free 2 day postage ? I have been caught out and had a long wait for my purchases several times, not so much now as I direct message the seller and ask if the item is being posted from the UK.

Agreed
Small items for just a few £ being shipped across the world is environmentally insane and should be banned

I agree 100%. checking for uk stock has become a pain with, dubious, sellers getting better at deceiving buyers. Apologies are not much use when parts are needed to complete a job. A solution is to use amazon or temu. Their delivery dates are, in the main, accurate.

It's really galling to have ordered a Christmas present in early December, only to find out that it's being shipped from China. The seller is masquerading as UK based. I feel like I've been conned and I will need to replace the gift with something else. The safest option I think, is to not buy on ebay. There are actual real shops out there, which I now intend to use. Goodbye ebay (and Amazon- it's just as bad). There are just no ethics about this. It's a global con market.

Am afraid it is difficult to avoid as EBay actively supports the use of slaves to manufacture Chinese products. They willingly encourage the sale of these goods as, after all, their profits are way more important to them than stopping the torture of the people on whose backs those profits are made.

I feel the same - I am also having to deal with " buyers" not paying.
After looking at their accounts it shows they have had no activity for over a year?
I now have to check " bidders" accounts to see what their account status is, no activity for over 6 months I ignore their offer and those with only 1 feedback or a new eBay user -There is nothing I can do if an auction... you think you have sold, package and then no payment! I know we all started somewhere, but it is becoming a minefield out there and causing stress.
I have spoken with an eBay agent who advised to turn on automatic cancel for non payment after 4 days, that was all they could advise on the subject?

It's win - lose. Win for the sellers and lose for the consumers, who get substandard goods.

I find also that Chinese sidings are small and clothes turn out to be unsatisfactory. Would rather pay more for another manufacturer
