Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

on the 28/07/25 i purchased an item on ebay that was supposed to arrive by the 31/07/25 from luton uk.

the item was posted from lithuania on the 03/08/25 and i havent received it yet (11/08/25).

on the 04/08/25 i filed a not received claim and ebay keeps making excuses to honour their obligation through the buyers protection to pay the refund and have put the claim on hold!?!

how long is a fair period to have to wait for your refund when you don't receive your item???

They should not be delaying,  it was overdue when they posted it so ebay should refund now.

If it arrives in the meantime, as it will be late, you can close the item not received case and open one for item not as described.

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

OOOH, that does annoy me.  How can Ebay allow someone to sell from "Luton" when they're actually abroad!   This is a major loophole that's been known about (by me) for years and it should be sorted.  Same regarding buyers from overseas who use a UK courier.  Even though I've stated in my account for Ebay to disallow buyers from anywhere but the UK, I still get overseas buyers (registered overseas) via a UK courier.  My packaging is excellent, but (hoping it never hapens) how can I prove any damage caused was the fault of their courier.  Many of these couriers now aren't obivous in name or address, so it's not as if I can cancel the order.

Sorry for the moan, I hope you get your refund.

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

This is a joke.

Since posting my experience here @2:53 pm today , Ebay at 18:21 tonight finally replied/came to a decision on my claim for a refund for non receit item.

They simply said " your case is closed" without any reason whatsoever.

What is my best course of action now? Can anyone help?

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

my best advise to you here would be to ask for a call back via the help page . do  not bother with online chat as they are only intrested in getting you gone as quick as possible . ask for a call back about mid morning so you will get someone closer to your country . and if the person on the other end of the phone does not seem helpful ask for a supervisor. always works for  me even if i have had a problem with selling or buying

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

bad advise here. if a item does not arrive on time it is often not the fault of the seller as in my case last month with royal mail they did not collect from me for four days due to shortages of staff, as a disabled person who can,t get items to the post office and need collections this would not have been very kind to me and also what you are suggesting is not within the ebays terms and conditions you can,t put down item not as described when a item arives late. please ignore this advise as it poor form and could lead to termination of your account

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

Hi @react702 Have you checked the tracking? It may have closed because they believe it has been delivered.

BPF doesn't really cover you for anything you think it should.

How did you pay for it?

Paypal may help if you paid via them, But really it is down to the seller to claim off the delivery company, so I think ebay must think it is delivered

There's an appeal button here https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-poli...

I don't know if it still works as I don't have any closed cases to try it on!

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

In this case the seller said they were in Luton but were actually in Lithuania, so perfectly reasonable.

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

which part is reasonable i have been on here with multiple accounts since 2001  i have had good times and bad times both as a seller and as a buyer . making up false claims like item not as described just because it,s arrived late is no excuse to do that and ebay frown up it and take action against people who do this . best course of action here is to contact ebay and ask for a call back help. trust me it works if you kick up enough

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

Unless *you* list items saying they are in the UK and they are actually not, then my response has nothing to do with how *you* are selling on ebay.

See the policy below.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-policies/item-location-misrepresentation-policy?id=4244

Certainly the OP can try discussing with CS, as you say.

Re: Ebay keep finding excuses to pay my refund!?!

Thats true had the same happen to myself says in london then works out seller in china had this happen to me loads of times i am just thinking  ebay cs would be the best option here as the op stated ebay closed the case so they must think they have the item i presume and as op stated does not have it there would be nothing to return so it makes it very difficult
