EVRI Thought's and Suggestions

Hi eBayers

What are your experiences with this Courier?

Quite a few cancelled urgent deliveries at the last minute, even this week.

On many purchases!

I don't want to start complaining, but try to be positive.

I thought it was just me, but I have just been reading the Online Evri petition

I find the Post Office provide the service they promise, and can't fault them

Any thoughts and suggestions please?

Thanks

@roger_roger_over_and_nowt  Thanks

I know its not the sellers fault.

What are the Evri update and changes?

Is it just carrying on?

Thanks

EVRI Thought's and Suggestions

I found Evri cheaper on heavier parcels so sent a couple by Evri.

Both got dropped and damaged.

So 100% fail for me.

I have used them for most parcels for a few years now. 2 issues a couple of years ago, both sorted/refunded quickly, no issues since.

EVRI Thought's and Suggestions

I tend to not use Evri ....just Royal Mail tracked some way.

Whether Evri offer a good service or not i think it depends entirely on the Couriers in your area.

Some are really good and polite and helpful.......others tend to dump items anywhere

@1956glyn I have actually spoken to my Courier deliverer a while back, when I was thinking of working fror EVRI.

He comes across as a nice guy.

This confirms that it is him, as in the App now, we see who our deliverer is, whith a photo

Do we have a choice from our seller, which courier we would prefer?

EVRI Thought's and Suggestions

I did have some problems with Evri in the past when they were still trading as Herpes, but having subsequently ordered items - both on eBay and via other online websites - where the seller is using Evri as the courier I've had no problems with them.

Earlier in the year I bought some SIS energy gels directly from SIS (Science In Sport) rather than going through eBay, as I was able to get a bulk discount when buying directly from the manufacturer.  I ordered a large box of energy gels earlier this year whilst training for a marathon, and the gels arrived within twenty-four hours, having been delivered via Evri, and the lady who was delivering the box actually took the time to knock on the door and wait for an answer, rather than just dumping the box and walking off.  When I answered the door she looked me straight in the eye, smiled sweetly and said "Present for you" as though it was my birthday, then handed the box over.  I've read many horror stories about how Evri couriers toss the package over a fence or just leave it on the doorstep and walk off, but in my experience they're much better now than they were before the rebranding of the company.

With regards to Royal Mail I've never experienced any major problems, and for the most part anything I've ordered that's been sent via Royal Mail, whether bought via eBay or not, has always reached me within a decent timeframe and without any items sustaining damage in transit.  In the cases where I received goods via Royal Mail that were damaged in transit this has usually been due to insufficient packaging by the seller, such as one seller on eBay who sold me a fragile item and didn't even bother to pack the box out with any kind of shock absorbing material!  Needless to say the item got smashed in transit, but I managed to get a total refund via the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

In summary I would say that it's really down to the person who's delivering your item as to whether you end up having a good or bad experience with the courier that they work for.  If you get the kind of person who really goes the extra mile when doing his/her job then you're likely to get a better service, whereas if you get the kind of person who just wants to get the item delivered as quickly as possible and then shoot off again then you're more likely to end up with a substandard service, such as the item either being dumped on your doorstep or tossed over the fence into your garden.

EVRI Thought's and Suggestions

Hi @m25jet - Thankyou for sharing your experience.

The package finally arrived, and I have missed the Customer deadline.

I am surprised, as my Seller even said, Cancel and Return.

I wanted to give it 1 last chance.

The driver is a good driver, and I quickly chatted to him, and it was interesting what he said.

I need to rethink now, other ways of purchasing other items now.

Thankyou

EVRI Thought's and Suggestions

Evri are indeed the cheapest courier.  However, at this time of year, as Xmas ramps up, they seem to draft in a bunch of holigan gorillas to supplement their normal staff to cope with the increased traffic.  Within the past 2 weeks, I've had to make 2 refunds because of damage on delivery.  In previous years it's been the same with items being "lost" or damaged.  So my response has been to pull everything off eBay until the gorillas are laid off.

Hi @bmrestore

I was chatting to my Evri driver, and hes actually a nice guy

I explained to him about my thoughts, and I said by the way I gave you a good review.

He told me that they get paid Xtra with good reviews

He deserved the good review

ps - I dont believe I have a choice as the courier that is used?

I always use The Post Office, and pay Xtra for a tracking number next day delivery.
My First sale, ended up costing me so much

Such is life !!

EVRI Thought's and Suggestions

I have bougt two items via ebay in the last month.

First a vintage radio, not expensive but a nice collector's item that I have wanted for some time. It arrived via Evri and was smashed beyond repair, and the seller was very helpful giving me a quick refund (I sent them pictures).

A couple of weeks later another identical item appeared from another seller, and I won that too. I semt a message to the seller asking them to pack carefully, describing my previous experience.

Despite their careful use of bubble wrap, the radio also arrived smashed in the same way as the original. * The box had no outward sign of damage but it had obviously been crushed, the bubble wrap allowing it to regain its original shape.

My only other recent online purchase was something from Amazon. That also arrived squashed beyond repair.

Until then I hadn't had a damaged parcel in about ten years.

All three packages had been sent via Evri. I think there is something seriuously wrong with their materials handling systems - it's probably not the final delivery driver's fault.

Why on earth do ebay (and Amazon) sellers use Evri? They must be the country's worst couriers...

So, those are my thoughts, and my suggestion is "don't touch them with a ten foot barge pole".

* No, it wasn't the same one!

Hey @davidninetynine - Im sorry to hear that, coming from a fellow Radio restorer also.

I read somewhere Yesterday that they are going to employ more every drivers with the lead up to Christmas and many and not vetted from what I understand is and just get given the job and then get put under pressure on minimum wage and all the rest that igoes with it and zero hours.

Im not defending them, but there is a website dedicated to Evri gripes.

So wasteful also.

Best of luck getting some more items
