Click and Collect

Hi,

My preferred 'click and collect' option is Argos in Sainsburys. But whenever I try to purchase certain products this is not an option and gives a random newsagent instead. Is this a seller option or ebay?

Thanks for any response.

M.

Click and Collect

Thank you.

I asked the seller and they concurred with you. Sellers are simply given an address and EPC number to send the parcel to. All controlled by ebay.

Incidentally, the item was adult related. So maybe ebay or Argos deem this to be inappropriate for delivery.

Shame as another sale lost.

Click and Collect

It's selected by eBay,with Simple Delivery if Evri is the courier then collection is from an Evri collection point near the buyer.

The store options with Click & Collect are nothing to do with the seller, they are controlled by eBay.

There are actually 2 different types of Click & Collect available on eBay now depending on whether custom postage or Simple Delivery is being used.  The original version available with custom postage uses Argos/Sainsburys as well as several other shops whereas the new version available with Simple Delivery only delivers to Evri parcel shops.

I came on here to ask the same question. Like you, there's an Argos in Sainsbury I tend to go that's convenient for me but not coming up anymore. Weirdly though, for my item, one Argos store does come up as it's near but not as convenient at the Argos in Sainsbury store. All the other options are petrol stations/newsagents/etc, some further than my preferred choice.

Thank you! I had the same query and spent a fruitless day trying to get any help from ebay as to why this was. It's definitely changed recently and very inconvenient. Also you don't know until you have bought the item that is going to happen.

Thank you! Does anyone know an email address we can write to ebay on to complain about this new system?

For some reason, a number of local Argos collection points appear to have opted out of the eBay system --- other options >

I had this response to my having raised a similar Q. I totally dislike convenience stores. Am I expected to just wait, keep reviewing the item - trusting it wont sell! Have I nothing better to do when previously I just clicked and it was job done. Talk about progression. HA.

Please know that Stores availability keeps on changing for various reasons and so you can see the available stores only at the checkout page.

We have taken your suggestion for having nearest Collection Stores to use the Click and Collect service and forwarded to the relevant team. We are optimistic that this team will work on it and try to get nearest stores available to you at the earliest. But as shared, such stores are subject to availability.

Click and Collect

Hi,

The Click and Collect locations are controlled by eBay, not by individual sellers. When a buyer selects Click and Collect, eBay automatically shows the eligible collection points based on the item, courier, item size, and availability at nearby locations.

Sellers are not able to choose or restrict specific stores such as Argos in Sainsbury’s. If Argos is not appearing and a newsagent is shown instead, it usually means that particular item or delivery method is not eligible for Argos collection at that time.

I've come to this thread as I too was wondering why I'm no longer being offered Argos in Sainsbury's as an option. Having read your explanation - yes, Argos seems to have ceased appearing as an option as the roll out of Simple Delivery has gathered pace. What I don't understand is why can Argos not be used as a collection point for Simple Delivery items? What difference does it make to Argos whether it is Simple Delivery or not? It's not Argos that is paying the postage.

I believe the problem lies with the problems these items bring to these stores.

Some buyers do not realise they only have 7 days to pick up their items,  they have to bring a collection code,  some have difficulty finding these, and arrive without a code demanding their item.

Stores I believe were fed up with angry peeps,  when an item cannot be presented, items not picked up in 7 days the store can dispose of as they wish posting back to the seller ( cannot see a busy store being bothered with that option! ) , give it to charity or destroy it.

It's extra work for them alongside the abuse they face from some customers,  so they choose not to be a pick up place.

Cannot blame them ! 🤔

Click and Collect

I expect it's Evri preferring to deliver to other parcel shops.

Most, if not all, of my non-Simple Delivery click and collect were sent by Royal Mail.

On Simple Delivery RM c&c isn't available; c&c is with Evri and Inpost.

I'm afraid I don't believe a word of this. It doesn't ring true at all. I'm not convinced the problem is due to Argos staff getting fed up and opting out - the problems they experience will apply to anywhere offering C&C. Since my post in March 2026 I have ordered a couple of items that did NOT offer Simple Delivery and sure enough my local Argos/Sainsburys was offered as a collection point. I asked the member of Argos/Sainsburys staff who served me if they had experienced a downturn in eBay traffic recently and they didn't think so. This made wonder if it was an algorithmic problem, but a couple of months on, having now read about eBay's partnership with Evri and Evri favouring smaller collection points this appears to be the explanation as to why Argos is not being offered as a collection point for Simple Delivery items (which is somewhat annoying).

However, I am now aware of another C&C problem: If I buy multiple items from a single seller who offers C&C on all of their items, the C&C option disappears COMPLETELY at checkout. Why is this? In the latest case of this, today, I was buying a number of small very small model cars and the size and weight of the package will be similar to what it would be if I was buying just one. Has the C&C option disappeared because the seller combined postage in the invoice they sent me? If so then that is ridiculous and eBay need to address this issue. It is more convenient for me to collect items than to have them delivered to my address. On another recent occasion where this happened the courier was Royal Mail. I opted to use RM's "Try my Neighbour" facility. However, in the event RM (very unusually, I must say) ignored this, instead "doing an Evri" and left my package behind my wheelie bin in the pouring rain. I received an email stating it had been left there, and had to leave a meeting I was in elsewhere to dash home and take it inside, before dashing back to the meeting! And no, RM had not tried to leave it with my neighbour, as my doorbell camera footage proved.

Click and Collect is not available when combined postage is used, you can ask the seller to put all the items in a newly created listing for you and purchase that way.

That's madness! What on earth is the reason for that? It's also crazy to have to ask a seller to create a new listing. If I was the seller I certainly wouldn't be too chuffed.
