Two months ago I tried to buy something, didn't get it, and so left negative feedback. Since then, the seller has been continually sending messages asking me to remove the feedback. Though the content of the messages is benign, having them sent to me every couple of days is definitely not something I want. I tried complaing to eBay, but they said they can't do anything because it's not against the rules.
Surely there's some way of blocking messages? I poked around a bit but couldn't see anything in the UI for it.

Just point out that as the negative was left over a year ago it is not included in the calculation of his feedback score.
Incidentally, did you notice that he has manged to inveigle revisions from 143 other buyers?

I think you might be looking at the wrong one - the feedback I left was in June this year, not over a year ago yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if the seller's tactic works on a lot of people. Depending on their disposition, the constant messaging could be anywhere from slightly irritating to a source of stress, and some people will surely cave in just to make it stop.

Yes, I think this will work. It is a two part process, both under Seller Hub > Shortcuts > Block Bidders
1) Manage Blocked Buyer List > Manage List [add his ebay ID, with commas between IDs]
2) Account Settings > Selling > Communication with Buyers > tick box Don't Allow Blocked Buyers to Contact Me.
Receiving unwanted messages every few days is not benign, even if the language seems so! It pays to review the Member to Member policy. Although you say eBay "can't do anything" I would report each message with the ellipses ... icon at top Right. In my opinion these messages are SPAM as it is "unsolicited and [indirectly] commercial in nature." Since there are so many messages, I think reporting each one will trigger eBay into some kind of action.

The only non positive feedback you have left in past 6 months is a neutral and reads "Item was "lost" in transit and refunded".It's too late to change it anyway.

Thanks, I've done that and hopefully it actually blocks sellers as well as buyers. The longest between messages so far has been 8 days, so I suppose I'll know for sure after about that mich time from now.
I'll try reporting the messages to eBay again, but I don't hold out much hope of it having any efect.

You're right, sorry, it was neutral feedback not negative.

Hi ffffffffffffffffffffff, thanks for your post.
I just wanted to clarify that blocking a seller is not really possible, that's why you wouldn't see an option to "block a seller". If you believe the seller is violating any our communication policies, you can report them here, or you can contact our customer service team, so they can look into it for you.
Thank you,
Marco
