Seller gave reason for cancellation as Buyer request - this was because they couldn't deliver

Hi, I've been on eBay for years and years. Maybe I have just been lucky, and not had this issue before. Can someone advise please. Twice recently due to a seller not being able to deliver, the transaction couldn't be fulfilled and I had a refund, but the reason came through on both occasions as buyer request? That implies I changed my mind and didn't honour my purchase?  I couldn't wait for an item that on one occasion was going to be weeks late for a birthday, and in another was out of stock. So why then does it appear to  come back on me?

What you have described is poor selling practice but neither you nor eBay can force a seller to honour a sale.

The seller cannot cancel properly without your agreement and will give themselves a defect on their account.

Too many of those and the seller’s selling days will be over for good. If they send a Cancellation Request, decline it and they still must pay the 10% sellers’ fee.

Leave negative feedback and stars, just say something like "Seller would not honour the sale" then there are no grounds for the seller to ask eBay to remove it
