Refund agreed but banking details have changed

Ebay has resolved to give a refund for an item purchased in early May but the bank account from which the payment was made does does not exist any longer due to the bank account holder having passed away since the purchase. I have entered new bank details in the account settings and am hoping that Ebay will refund to the new bank account though somehow I doubt they will. Ebay chat and call back don't appear to be available currently. Anyone have any ideas please?

Refunds go back to the source account - they have to, for obvious reasons.

Have you spoken to the bank about this..?  When someone passes away, banks don't usually close the deceased's account - they suspend it. But even if the account has been closed, the bank should be able to advise you on what you need to do. Give them a call.

If the bank account has been closed because the account holder is no onger around, I can't really see what their old bank can do, as the payment won't go through to them. It'll bounce back to the seller's account.

You can't enter a new bank account in an account that belongs to a deceased person, the account needs to be closed down.

You do need to speak to eBay CS to get this sorted, you may need to prove that you are executor of the deceased's estate in order to claim any of their money.

Refunds go back to source, can't be changed.

Contact original bank, they should transfer money to new account.
