I had been watching an item for a WEEK.
I logged into my profile and watched the last minutes of the bid.
I pre-filled my target bid and waited until the last few moments to place the bid, at which point eBay asked me to confirm my home address and telephone number, so I've lost the item.
I'm so annoyed and angry and don't know what to do.
Please note that I had used eBay recently for both bidding and direct buying, receiving the packages at this address, already registered.
Any suggestion?
That sounds as if you were not actually logged in to your account. Advice? Bid earlier.
There is nothing you can do about that auction.
The account you're posting on was only opened today.
I've never been asked to confirm contact details before bidding, but eBay is fully entitled to make security checks at any time. If you were bidding from a same-day opened account, and the item had any value, it's understandable that you may have triggered a security alert.
Any account you may have created will still be subject to the security restrictions applied to all new accounts. The fact that you have previously used eBay on another account at the same address is unlikely to be relevant.
