Negative Feedback I Left Has Vanished

Hey everyone

About 2 months ago I purchased an item and after waiting a month it still hadn't arrived, I contacted the seller but he/she didn't reply.

I waited a couple more weeks and then opened a case, got a refund and left a negative feedback for the seller.

Strangely, that feedback has been removed.

I wouldn't have left a negative feedback if the seller had replied, but the fact I wasted over a month waiting is what irked me.

So with eBay deciding to remove the feedback, other buyers will probably buy the same item and experience the same problem because they don't see the feedback that says wasted 2 months and doesn't respond.

Maybe other buyers before me had left negative feedback and eBay removed them too - If I had seen the negative first I wouldn't have purchased that item and it would have saved my time.

I thought it may be because I only have 9 feedback but I have a friend who has over 3,000 feedback and he said he had experienced the same thing last year, he got in touch with eBay and showed me a message they sent him saying it was their fault and they had removed the negative feedback he left in error.

Now I'm wondering if I should actually bother checking feedback before I buy an item?
I mean if the seller can just have the bad ones removed so the buyer can only see the good ratings - it's not a true reflection on the seller.

The whole idea of a feedback system is to reflect a true idea of a buyers or sellers performance.

The item I purchased was a buy it now with immediate payment, I wasted 2 months waiting, sent the seller a polite message after a month to ask if there is an issue etc - so I don't think the removal of the feedback can be down to something I did wrong.

eBay should really contact sellers like that to ask why they don't respond to a buyers message.

It is always worth reading feedback, it is sometimes more useful to read the Feedback left for others, as it tells you more about the seller.

When leaving feedback it is sometimes better to be brief, the less you say the less chance of saying the wrong thing. Something like " An unsatisfactory transaction" covers  all sorts of problems and serves as a warning to others.  Marking down stars also tells potential buyers a lot about how a seller performs.

As already said the robots will sometimes pick up the last two letters of a word and link with the first two of the next word, and make much more of a completely harmless remark.

When leaving feedback there are rules to follow regarding what you can say and what you cannot.

Without knowing what you put it is difficult to advise you further.

Can you quote the exact words you posted?

The eBay robots sometimes ‘find’ words which are not allowed, by ignoring spaces between acceptable words.

Buyers opening cases against poor sellers is far more effective than leaving feedback as many buyers do not check that before they buy the item.
